Taipei, March 7 (CNA) A Taiwanese woman who was stopped at a security checkpoint at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Sunday was found to be carrying NT$1.4 million (US$42,835) in cash in her leggings, aviation police said Monday.
Police said the metal detector went off when the woman, identified by the surname Chen, was going through the checkpoint to board a flight to Hong Kong.
She was wearing a loose dress and appeared nervous, the police said.
The 34-year-old woman told airport security she was pregnant, but a search discovered that she had NT$1.4 million in cash stuffed in her tights, police said.
The money, which she said was for shopping in Hong Kong, was returned to Chen and she aborted her trip, police said.
