Taiwanese celeb An Hsin Yun, 44, known for participating in singing competition One Million Star Season 2 in 2007, recently appeared on a talk show where she opened up about her marital troubles.
Hsin Yun tied the knot with national dragon boater Zhuang Ying Jie in 2019. Ying Jie is 28, 16 years younger than Hsin Yu, and they have a daughter and a son.
Hsin Yun described her husband as someone who ‘can’t hold his alcohol’ and he would often lose his composure when drinking.
She recounted an incident when Ying Jie, feeling extremely dejected after failing to qualify for a race, lost control of his emotions while drinking. He stormed into the kitchen, grabbed a cleaver, and vented his anger by repeatedly slashing their refrigerator.
Terrified by his sudden outburst, Hsin Yun quickly ushered her children into their room to shield them from the shock, before trying to placate her husband in hopes of calming him down.
Hsin Yun revealed that similar incidents had occurred before, and that her husband had once threatened self-harm after losing control of his emotions.
She said it’s not unusual for married couples to fight, but what troubles her most is not knowing what her husband is thinking.
‘He tends to keep everything to himself, and the way he expresses himself is through these outbursts,’ shared an emotionally drained Hsin Yun. She also revealed that she struggled with postnatal depression after the birth of her younger child, but recovered after seeking professional help.
When asked if she regrets getting married, Hsin Yun candidly admitted: “Actually, I quite regret it.”
She jokingly added that she might be “headed for divorce” after the show airs.
Hsin Yun believes that Ying Jie still thinks like a single man and has yet to develop the self-awareness that comes with being a father.
Despite her misgivings, Hsin Yun stresses she has never regretted having kids.
"My children have been through a lot. I feel as though I’m not capable enough, but mum is trying her best," she said.
