TAIPEI -- Taiwan has increased its military staff assigned to counterintelligence against China, since China has not promised to renounce the use of force against Taiwan, Minister of National Defense Yen Ming said.
China has never ceased its efforts to collect military intelligence on Taiwan, and Taiwan's military in April boosted the number of counterintelligence agents against China, Yen said before reporting to the Legislature's Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee.
He was responding to local media reports that the military has reinstated an anti-Chinese intelligence workforce after a 12-year hiatus, in light of media reports of retired Taiwanese officers who were recruited by Chinese intelligence authorities.
