I think it depend on what kind of knife.

For this kind that this bugger used, similar to those used by 古惑仔. More effective is only slashing throat.
The front is not pointed so hard to stab.

Smaller sharper front knife can take more life by stabbing the abdomen.

But for this case, even high death rate hard to achieve, the injury rate should be very high as the area is of full of people.
