Taipei ranks among the world's top 10 food destinations, according to Bunkycooks, a food and travel website that focuses on the people and places behind delicious food.

Bunkycooks says that Taipei has some of the world's finest street food thanks to the variety of rich noodle soups, steamed buns, and dumplings.

Taipei offers a variety of tantalizing seasonings from across China and Taiwan, the website says, including basil, white pepper, cilantro, pickled vegetables, and star anise.

Citing gua bao, a type of braised pork on a steamed bun, as an example, Bunkycooks writes that the snack tastes even better at a Taipei night market than at the hands of the many famous American chefs who have brought it across the Pacific.

The website, created in 2009, says that culinary travel is becoming the most popular motivation for travelers to venture around the world.

While traveling long distances to enjoy unique food, wine, and spirits, Bunkycooks notes, travelers should also strive to learn about the people, history, and architecture of a region.

The website's top 10 list features the South of France, Barcelona, Italy, Mexico City, Taipei, Morocco, London, New Orleans, New York City, and Charleston in South Carolina, without respective rankings.
