I'm afraid I'm still not convinced, especially since soft drinks companies obviously want to at least maintain their annual revenue, right?

I am not medically-trained, just sharing some bad experiences that I had in ASEAN countries. Even in the most expensive hotel of a small town, u need to brush teeth with mineral water.

I agree with abstaining from food for at least 24 hours, but I'm afraid just drinking Coke or 100plus is not a good idea, simply because that will result in too much bad sugar (i.e. sucrose and/or fructose):
