The Merc driver was being an asshole by not giving way to the overtaking Saab. But from a legal standpoint he didn't break any traffic law since he came to stop at the red light junction long after (at least 200m) the Saab overtook it.

On the other hand the Saab driver picked up speed after overtaking, beat the lights, crashed into other vehicles and caused 2 deaths. The prosecution can actually up the charge from dangerous driving to manslaughter and bring the full weight of the upon him.
