Deir Ezzor province: Areas in northern and eastern Syria are witnessing an increase in the rate of ISIS targets and attacks against civilians and combatants, especially in Deir Ezzor. The matter was not limited to attacks only, but also direct threats by “ISIS” cells to intimidate them and obtain Zakat.
In this context, members of an “ISIS” cell attacked a house in Abreha town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, the owner of which works in the field of car repair, due to his refusal to pay zakat money to “ISIS” several times.
The members of the cell clashed with the owner of the house, without causing any casualties.
According to SOHR activists, before the withdrawal of the cell members to an unknown destination, they chanted “Allah Akbar”, while a military patrol of SDF intervened to search for the attackers without being able to arrest them.
On March 7, SOHR reported that A gunman of ISIS threw a flare grenade at the house of a civilian in Abo Hardoub Town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, and the civilian was not harmed.
According to reliable SOHR sources, this attack was a warning by ISIS cells towards the civilian after he “refused to pay 50,000 USDs as zakat for them”, before the gunmen fled the area using a motorbike.
SOHR has documented 74 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 38 fatalities:
• 25 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
• Three ISIS member.
• Six civilians including a child.
• Four guards working with the Autonomous Administration.
These operations are distributed regionally as follows:
• Deir Ezzor: 62 attacks left 17 combatants, one member of ISIS and five civilians including a child dead.
• Al-Hasakah: Six attacks left three combatants, one civilian and two ISIS members dead.
• Al-Raqqah: Six attacks left five combatants and four guards working with the Autonomous Administration dead
