A 53-year-old man, Mohamed Sufian Mohamed Sabri has been arrested in connection with an alleged stabbing incident that took place near Tampines MRT on Dec. 19.

He was charged with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons and was arrested within six hours of the incident, The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao reported.

The victim sustained knife wounds to his left forearm and right lower back.

Injured man and blood stains found at the scene

According to witnesses, they had heard a commotion at a tentage area between Tampines MRT station and Tampines Mall on the day of the incident, near the U-Taste coffee shop at Tampines Central 1.

Staff at the coffee shop were quoted as saying that they heard an argument, but could not see what was happening due to the awning outside the shop.

Following the argument, a man in a blood stained shirt was seen walking towards a traffic light between Tampines MRT station and Tampines Mall, leaving a trail of blood.

The police confirmed that they had received multiple calls at about 5:55pm that day.

Upon arrival, they found an injured man and attended to his injuries with assistance from Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel.

A blood trail of about 50 metres was also seen at the scene, Zaobao reporter observed.

He was conveyed to hospital in a conscious state.

Suspect had been serving a remission order

Court documents further indicated that Sufian had been serving a remission order from Oct. 4, 2025 to Jan. 13, 2026 at the time of the incident.

He is accused of breaching the order over the incident.

If he is convicted of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons, he faces a jail term of up to seven years, and may also receive a caning and fine.

He will also have to serve an enhanced sentence for breaching a remission order.
