StarHub takes issue with OpenNet

IN LAST Saturday's article ('Few cases of cable damage: OpenNet'), OpenNet admitted that damage caused was not isolated, and that it had damaged other StarHub cable TV connections when installing its fibre-optic lines, apart from Ms Tan Siyun's home.

We reiterate our deep concern about the unauthorised access, tampering and damaging of our infrastructure by OpenNet, and the adverse impact on our customers.

Any misconception created from OpenNet's statement that it has 'always rectified the damage to the home owners' satisfaction' should be clarified.

In Ms Tan's case, StarHub, not OpenNet, replaced the damaged cable and restored services. We will seek details from OpenNet about its rectification to StarHub's cables in other infringements which were carried out without StarHub's knowledge or permission.
