[TD] Actually when Old Lee setup Temesak & GIC was already a BIG mistake which
I believed was intentionally and under instruction by a higher order ...
Last time government owned all the lands and offices ...
Now government outsourced all the lands and the offices to middle
agent to manage the government as if the government has no resources
to manage it ...
After that Temesak & GIC used government funds to control everything
and set high office rental rates for government office leases ...
This is like the mini AIM saga ...
There are so many of such examples ...
Over the decades, government become an empty shell as all the
assets were transferred to Temesak and GIC which was managed
privately ...
I went to MapleTree Business REITs, almost all the offices are leased to the government itself ...
It has become the 2nd invisible government behind the scene ...

Today 8:38 AMHonestboy Wrote:If you look at this issue carefully, you will realise it's not a transportation issue. It's a structural issue involving 3 parties - SMRT, LTA and Ministry of Transport. SMRT is a profit oriented entity, a public listed company set up to make money. If I were the CEO, even I know I need to spend billions to redo all the tracks and change the system, I won't do it because this will hit my bottom line and my shareholders' return. LTA only fine SMRT and money is transferred from left pocket to right pocket. No big deal. Ministry of Transport stuck in between, poor chap. The only way to solve this is for the government to buy over all the assets of SMRT. Then open tender for private companies to run the assets basically providing train services without owning the tracks and trains.
Don't want to see another good leader put into that role and then resign again and again. Lui, issue is addressed, here is your tissue. Best wishes!
