Stupid Chinese fake lunar rover breaks down

what is the point of posting in the International news folder ? nobody read it.

What i find strange is the number of lurkers and thread views however lesser they may be compared to the main folder. :D

You are probably unaware that clones harassment and profanities zappings has been going on for years in repeated attempts to put me off from posting. Another way of silencing / chasing off members without using power zapping. :D

Guessing as usual but when ask to produce proof, can't. :D

If you're talking about your IP address or a copy of your NRIC, no, I don't have that kind of proof.

But I know – not guessing – you're Indian from the way you write, the way you express yourself, the little slips here and there.:)

Be proud of your ethnicity, whatever it is. There's a phrase for those who're ashamed of their race: internalized racism. Lots of those in this forum.

Nah... if history is any guide both China and USA will collapse and splinter under their own weight.

USA's states will start secession from the union.

China will splinter up like the Soviet Union. Ethnic minority autonomous fringe regions will break away and declare independence.

No dynasty, no empire will last forever. When the conditions are right, the implosion will begin.

There's no need to constantly fawn over the People's Republic of China, simply because you are an ethnic Chinese. I feel no compulsion to sing the praises of a communist regime. In fact, I feel no cultural affinity to the PRC folks outside of the southern provinces. Henan, Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Xi'an etc.

there are many great empires that seemed to be able to last forever but eventually collapsed in history. the Chinese empire is lasting forever from Han dynasty to PRC today. the Chinese even survived three major foreign invasions. two of the invasions ended in the Han Chinese being enslaved by foreign rulers for centuries but the Mongols and Manchus eventually got kicked out of China and the Chinese's territory got even bigger as a result of it. the People's Republic of China would not remain forever of course. a new entity would just replace the CCP and PRC, and the Chinese empire continues forever.....

do post the interesting news in this section. i don't read the deserted sections of the forum. ;)

Serious? I'm also thought of as a keling.

Thank you Malaysian ah neh. ;)

Oh don't worry, the response from clones can be seen when i start threads to bash kelings and PRCs. :D:D:D

Absolutely agree. The Taiwanese and PRC Chinese are one on their identity as Chinese. Their quarrel is really with the political system and the legitimacy of the CCP vs KMT.

By the way, what's an ACSian like you doing in Taiwan an PRC?

One go to where the business take you to.
Now it is the Middle East.
I much prefer Taiwan and China , but that was in the past.
No fucking good pork dishes in ME.

I accept I never be one of those super rich with Gulfstream to play about with.
But I need not have to worry about money.

Happy enough not to be living in Stinkapore and seeing Pinoys there with their fucking baseball caps or having to hear Tagalog spoken.
When that smear of shit on sole of shoe LKY become a rotting corpse, I be back to join in the yum sengs and singing and dancing on the table tops and streets.

I am aware that long ago, the YPAP / PAP IB has received orders from the top to turn this into a Pro China, Russia, North Korea and it's allies that rule with iron fists forum while bashing White countries and it's allies India, Japan, South Korea, UK etc...

It's not going to happen as long i am around and already knowing their agenda here. :D You will see me bashing America's enemies aka communists countries on a regular basis.

No lah. You're a Jamaican Chinese with Rastafarian braids and a problem reading Chinese characters.:)

:D Some jamaican chinese that had never stepped foot into the island and let me tell you it's not easy. Try travelling from sinkland to the carribean.

I on the other hand support the underdog, and you know who the underdogs currently are in this world dominated and oppressed by the agenda and system set by one superpower and its allies. Check out my posts and you'll see where I stand on the Palestinian issue or South American liberation theology or Nanjing massacre or Amritsar massacre, for instance.

The oppo supporters here are also generally anti-US since the Pappy govt is a US-Israeli stooge. Generally. That puts your anti-PAP credentials into question, with your pro-US, pro-Israel, pro-Japan stance. Ha ha.:)

But keep posting. I don't persecute the PAP IB here, unlike some others. Free speech, remember?

China's lunar rover awake but ailing

Xinhua, March 14, 2014

China's moon rover Yutu woke up again at 6:42 a.m. on Friday, after its third dormancy, but even after a long rest, mechanical problems have not been resolved.

Yutu and the lander, which woke up earlier on Wednesday, have restarted their operations and are exploring as scheduled, according to the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence (SASTIND).

The control issues that have troubled Yutu since January remain, but its panorama camera, radar and other equipment are functioning normally, SASTIND said.

The cause of the problems is a mystery. The lander functioned normally during its first three lunar days, according to the SASTIND. A lunar day is equivalent to about two weeks on Earth.

The lander's optical telescope, extreme ultraviolet camera and lunar dust measurement device completed scheduled tasks and obtained a large amount of data.

Yutu, named after the pet rabbit of the lunar goddess Chang'e in Chinese mythology, touched down on the moon's surface on Dec. 15, some hours after lunar probe Chang'e-3 landed.

It has now survived its design life of three months.

The rover was intended to roam the lunar surface, surveying the geological structure and substrate while looking for natural resources, but problems emerged before the second dormancy on Jan. 25 as the lunar night fell. According to SASTIND, the problem was caused by the "complicated lunar surface."

Chang'e-3 is part of the second phase of China's lunar program, which includes orbiting, landing and returning to Earth. It follows the success of the Chang'e-1 and Chang'e-2 missions in 2007 and 2010.

China is the third country to soft-land on the moon after the United States and the Soviet Union.

the rule of law for invading china... neber stay back for too long, else you end up being one of them.

Last-ditch efforts to salvage mission of China's stricken Jade Rabbit lunar rover

Engineers identify power blockage as cause of Jade Rabbit's breakdown, which has left rover parked up on lunar surface for two months

Engineers are desperately trying to revive China's crippled lunar rover Jade Rabbit as fears grow that its mission could be over.

It broke down six weeks into its three-month mission in late January because of "mechanical control abnormalities".

And it has been parked up on the moon's surface for more than two months after travelling just 20 metres.

Engineers now say a blockage in the power circuitry is to blame and are looking to bypass it.

Professor Wang Jianyu, deputy secretary general with the Chinese Society of Space Research, said the electrical current was blocked "so the main driving mechanism cannot be powered up".

"It's like a clot in a human blood vessel [rendering] a body part immobile," he explained. Wang said aerospace engineers were still trying to determine what caused the "clot" and whether it could be resolved.

"The temperature on the moon is considerably lower than our previous estimation," he said, adding that certain components may be suffering from "frostbite".

He said the problem was confined to the driving mechanism. Scientific equipment on the rover, such as 3-D cameras, ground-penetrating radar and cameras, were functioning properly and constantly transmitting data to mission controllers

A design researcher at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Professor He Weiliang, said the challenges were complex.

All major electric components on a spacecraft have back-up systems, but they must be designed with a specific fault anticipated.

If a technical glitch disables a circuit, the current can be diverted to the back-up circuit to keep the vehicles powered up.

But he said: "The problem may be more sophisticated than just a 'clot'. Such a problem should have been considered in the design phase.

"I am afraid the problem is rooted in the reliability of certain devices or a system."

And Professor Gong Chunying, of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, who specialises in diagnosing electrical power system failures on spacecraft, said the "clot" could have been caused by a host of factors.

If the "clot" scenario had been addressed by the craft's designers, a back-up circuit could have been included to bypass the affected area, she said.

But she warned that the issue encountered by Jade Rabbit may relate to factors beyond those which the designers could have anticipated.

"If that is the case, the chances of repairing the rover will be diminished," she said.

Jade Rabbit, also known as Yutu, landed on the moon on December 14 - the first "soft landing" on the lunar surface since 1976. It first broke down on January 25.

China's space agency made an announcement concerning the problem and expressed fears that it may not be able to recover the mission.

Hopes were briefly raised when the lunar rover responded to controllers' commands - albeit with delays and difficulty - but it is currently incapable of activating its wheels or solar panels.

It remains unclear what effect the failure will have on the nation's wider space exploration ambitions.

The main purpose of the lunar programme was to send a large vehicle to the moon to retrieve samples and return them to earth in 2017.

One of the programme's long-term goals is to launch crewed missions to the moon and later establish a crewed lunar base.

No firm dates have been given, but some observers have said China could put a man on the moon in about a decade.

The lunar rover's power supply system was designed and built by the Shanghai Institute of Space Power Sources under the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, according to previous reports by mainland media.

An administrative official with the institute said they were not authorised to reveal details about the vehicle.

"Yutu is only part of our work," said the official. "Our researchers are busy with many other big, important tasks."

According to the institute's website, its biggest project being carried out this year is to design the electrical power system for the space station, with construction scheduled to be completed by 2020.

Typical of PRC workmanship on this Lunar Rover. Just like everything they try to build, it breaks down.
Would you seriously fly in one of their planes if China decided to compete with Airbus and Boeing in civil aviation?

How many failed apollos before the americans reached the moon? This is a learning curve because you can't learn it anywhere else. No one will yeach you
