Stupid Chinese fake lunar rover breaks down

A smalll set-back when compared to what China has achieved over the last five years.

look at the pap's breakdowns....

Respectfully disagree. Singapore has learnt from China in terms of implementing growth at all cost policies, not paying attention to social strain, allowing foreigners to ride roughshod over locals.

The train derailment which killed many in China a couple of years back is case in point. They just want growth and fuck the quality, even if it results in fatalities.

See the similarities with Singapore? We're following the same path. I'm not proud of Singapore, and if you're not as well, then you shouldn't be proud of China.

Nothing wrong with that. Other than russian or rather ussr, usa and china do you know of any other country that has landed on the moon? The fact of the matter is flying into space is a big deal for any country even today. PRC is a country that has many problems to deal with but overcome most of it. Why don't you see countries with 0 problems like countries in europe like france, uk etc fly to the moon. Cos even today they don't have the means to.

What if india managed to fly to the moon would you judge it like you judge prc? I don't think so.

that will be the fucking day....

the mamas can get their act together to send a fucking mama to the moon.......hahahahahaha

thats assuming they can stop playing all their politicking reindeer games first....NOT!!!

Using your analogy....
Not everyone feels the need to own a Ferrari.....many who can afford one chose not to because they dun need one.
China machiam the low esteem new money neighbour who feels the need to keep up with the joneses. They likely the country bumpkin who can't even pronounce the name or know the pedigree but bought the car anyway to park in the driveway to showoff. Feels the desperate need to be accepted to the old money club.
Little do they know all the neighbors (even those not rich enough to afford one) are sniggering behind their back....because the howlian china not aware what they bought was infact an old retired model that the richest neighbors already had in their garage years ago.

And to answer your question why the neighbors despise these chinks....
They are braggarts dislike by all....maybe they think they've arrived....but their subtle neighbors already been there done that.

To go further....china as a country machiam the behavior of Anton Casey...drives a porsche and lives in sentosa cove thinks he's made it and mock sinkies....ok most of the mrt commuters might not be able to afford his Porsche....but there are many other sinkies with fleet of Porsches and more.
So bottomline....no need to howlian blow trumpet.

China's reason for doing moon exploration is the same as USA and Russia's in the 60s. At least this is a super power with ambition and the means to achieve it.

Hello everyone , today is the first Earth Day 42 after I went to the moon . There are several good news and bad news , you want to hear first ?

The first good news is that through the efforts of these 42 days , I have accumulated rolled up over 100 meters ! I brought a lot of scientific instruments - radar measurements month , panoramic cameras, particle induced X -ray spectrometer , infrared imaging spectrometer , have collected a lot of useful data ...... out traveling, fear thing all the way back with no on it.

The second good news is that the day before yesterday morning, my first UHF antenna through the body , away from the lander over 20 meters in places, did not pass the Master directly and she said something whisper. Although she could not respond , but I know she must be very happy. Since it is a private message , we do not ask me what it ......

The third good news is that yesterday morning, the lander has to sleep again , ready for the second coming of Moonlight .

The bad news is , I had to sleep this morning should begin , but before going to sleep , my body found the master control abnormal, some parts of the body do not listen to their words . Now the masters are hard to find ways to feel not sleep , I heard more and more like their eyes rabbit ......

Still, I know that there might not survive the Moonlight it.

Before departure, I have had to learn together and lander human lunar history. There are already over 130 lunar exploration activities, success and failure ratio of almost half and half. Some could not land , and the Earth can not contact the probe after some landing , some detectors not lost his way or step pace . Space exploration is the way how the United States there is more danger. And I'm only human space exploration super figure , a small point .

The third sister and I can successfully landing Chang Er , the data returned so much has been accomplished masters scheduled mission objectives. Originally I thought I could jump tap here for three months, to tell you I found a variety of large stones , about lunar soil underground secret , tell me the story of Chang Er Third Sister ...... but if this first trip to early termination , I do not be afraid . Regardless can not be repaired , I believe that my failure to master who can provide a lot of valuable information and experience.

Do not worry about 2017 , Chang Er 5 will come here and continue to finish the story of the moon . Now lander is still good , will continue to work on the moon for at least one year. But she did not know my problem ...... hope Master can help me recover , but if you really can not fix it , please help me comfort her.

Here 's the sun has fallen , the temperature dropped so fast . Said today that a lot, but the overall feel is not enough. Tell you a secret, in fact, I do not feel particularly sad. I was just in their own adventure story, and all the actor , as also encountered a little problem .

Goodnight, Earth . Good night , mankind .

Mars is the hip place to go for Ang Mohs now.

Made in USA rover outlast its warranty period on Mars:

Opportunity still rocking and roving on Mars
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/01/23/mars-opportunity-rover/4782581/

Even for a robot, persistence pays off.

On Jan. 24, 2004, the little rover known as Opportunity touched down on the Martian surface, to start a career that was expected to last only a few months. Ten years later, the senior-citizen rover is still going strong – and after many frustrating years scouting sites far too acidic to host life, Opportunity has finally spotted a place where the conditions were once hospitable to living organisms. The first such site, a complex of lake beds and streams, was revealed by NASA's Curiosity rover, a Johnny-come-lately that landed on Mars in mid-2012.

"We have discovered another place on Mars that could have provided a habitat for life in a more ancient time," Michael Meyer, lead scientist of NASA's Mars exploration program, said at a NASA press conference Thursday.

The new life-friendly spot is on the edge of a giant hollow called Endeavour Crater, which the golf-cart-size rover arrived at in 2011. There the rover's sensors found evidence of clay minerals that can only form in a water environment with moderate acidity. It's not clear whether the site, which is the oldest evidence of water found by Opportunity, once held a lake, a stream or some other form of water.

"If I were there back when this material was being emplaced and altered, and I had my summer house, this is where I would drill to get good drinking water," said Ray Arvidson of Washington University in St. Louis, one of the lead scientists for Opportunity.

To go with that now-vanished water, the rover has just spotted what scientists are calling the "jelly doughnut," a small, odd rock with a deep-red center, white rim and a composition unlike anything seen before on the Red Planet.

"A rock just simply appeared in front of us. ... This is strange," said Cornell University's Steve Squyres, the top scientist for Opportunity. "Mars keeps throwing new stuff at us, and it's these kinds of unexpected discoveries that make this mission continue to be the exciting and fun thing that it is." The rock was probably "tiddly-winked" out of the Martian surface by the rover's wheels when the vehicle performed a pirouette, Squyres said, but so far scientists have been unable to determine the rock's original resting place.

The rover's sister robot, Spirit, has been incommunicado since 2010, but Opportunity is still healthy. NASA may have to pull the plug on the mission for financial reasons before Opportunity is ready to die, but in the meantime, the can-do rover is headed to explore more places that may have once hosted life.

"What we're going to see, we don't know. We'll find out when we get there," Squyres said. "We have an exciting period of discoveries ahead of us. … As long as the rover keeps going, we'll keep going."

Angmos best or not open to debate....
Fact is PRC behind time 50 years....man landed on moon in 1969.....why still so proud?

main reason of all these space xplorations is for military purposes.
why they are so proud and boasting about it is due to flawed characters.
just like most in sillypoore especial the pee A pee scums , all these "human"
totally lacking in moral values , are exceeding avarice , selfish , thinking highly of themselves.

these pretenders wasted billions in trying to find out can moon and other planets
sustain life. the ultimate stupidity. so what if there is one that can support human life ?
can this make them a better human ?

Jade Rabbit moon rover may be beyond repair, state media hints

Scientists may not be able to repair China's lunar rover, Jade Rabbit, that has broken down on the surface of the moon, a report on state media suggested.

The report from Xinhua, written as if it sent by the rover itself, said the problems could prove insoluble.

"Masters are working round the clock. In spite of that, I know I might not be able to make it through this lunar night," the "report" from Jade Rabbit said.

"If this journey is to be suspended ahead of schedule, I am not fearful. No matter whether I can be fixed or not, I believe I have left masters much valuable information and experience."

The authorities reported on Saturday the rover had experienced a "mechanical control abnormality'' and scientists were trying to fix it.

The problem happened just before the rover was about to enter its second lunar night, which lasts about two weeks with temperatures plunging to minus 180 degrees Celsius.

Another report on Xinhua also appeared to prepare the public for bad news about the rover, saying other lunar probes regularly encountered problems. It emphasised the achievements of the latest mission.

Beijing-based writer Zhang Yian was quoted as saying: "This is too heavy a burden. If the rabbit cannot stand again, maybe we should let it have a rest."

Jade Rabbit was originally scheduled to carry out geological surveys and astronomical observations for three months after it landed on the moon on December 14. The Xinhua report on the rover said it had travelled over 100 meters and had completed most of its tasks.

A planetary rover specialist at a German aerospace company, Lutz Richter, speculated that the electric motors withdrawing solar panels on the rover might have failed, damaging sensitive equipment in the intense cold.

The rover was about to shut down its systems to get through the lunar night when it broke down.

Jiao Weixin , the deputy director of the China Society of Space Research's space probe committee, said it was still unclear if the rover could be fixed.

"Scientists have little time as it's already night on the moon. If the Jade Rabbit can't continue working it will have a serious negative impact on this project as most research machinery is installed on the rover.''

Internet users have left thousands of comments on the Sina Weibo account of Jade Rabbit, or Yutu in Chinese, expressing sympathy about the breakdown.

"You have done a great job, Yutu. You have endured extreme hot and cold temperatures and shown us what we have never seen," one internet user was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

The Xinhua report written as if it was from the rover itself noted that half of the 130 moon missions had encountered failures in some form.

"I am not that sad. Like all the heroes in other stories, I have just encountered some problems in my adventure," the report said.

China's reason for doing moon exploration is the same as USA and Russia's in the 60s. At least this is a super power with ambition and the means to achieve it.

China may be only the 3rd country to achieve this but its in a very distant 3rd....40-50 years behind time to be exact.
It's bragging as if they are the first to reach the moon....yes china has joined the club but again 50 years late.
Better late than never, still only the 3rd country to do so, trumps ah neh anytime....all arguments do nothing to hide the fact they are 50 years behind time.
Want to brag then brag when they land on Pluto or someplace else before the other 2. Then start bragging....no doubt I believe with their persistence and ego....one day they will overtake the 2 Angmos....in alot more other aspects as well. But for now just know their 3rd placing and act like it.

This is like the olympics 100metres sprint final.
Nothing more shameful than an upstart wannabe without medal hopes acting like the world record holder when he just managed to slip into the finals (placed 8th) with his personal best national record timing which is still way off the world record mark set and reset frequently by the champions.
Yes getting into the finals is a feat by itself unmatched by many....but world champion he is not....not yet able to give the world champions a run for their money even.

USA: Hare
China: Tortoise

OK.. your assumption is based on the space race being a 100m sprint.

Or is it a marathon?

Even if marathon ok china still lagging way behind in distant 3rd. No way to remotely challenge the leaders.
Maybe eventually china will catch up and even win....but for now no need to celebrate yet or make victory speech.

If you go to the NASA and the ESA websites, you'll find that they are doing stuff that boggles the mind with its complexity and grand ambition.

Go to http://sci.esa.int/gaia/ and http://www.nasa.gov/

The projects and missions have nothing to do with politics and national pride anymore. This is about trying to understand the fundamentals of the universe we live in.

True... It is still too early to tell and the benefits of moon exploration to mankind is questionable.

I just find it strange everyone is slamming China's space effort when even the US and Russia have had high profile malfunctions. I guess the world is not ready to acknowledge China has attained the superpower country status.

Yeah right... USA spends billions on their space program for the betterment of all mankind....

And the moon is still made of cheese

I think less people might slam china if they dun blow their trumpets so much.
No denying china has come a long way in a short time....all signs point to them overtaking the big 2 sooner or later. But likely later than sooner and as of now they are still lagging behind. When they catch up and overtake the big 2 then there is all the time to celebrate, brag and rub it in....

Take the example of Japan and S.Korea....Japan had always led Korea in most things...but in some areas the Koreans already caught up and even surpassed the japs. But you dun see Koreans howlian machiam the chinks (who not even there yet).

Can you show me where did they brag?

I only see news reports of them going to the moon and so on obviously such news would be published regardless of the country going.

Did you see headlines and reports about china going hurray this great country is going to the moon!!! We have done it!!!! We are number one!!!!!! Now that would be considered bragging. Did you see headlines or videos of chinese officials or chinese news reports writing that? No. Therefore i want to ask you why do you say china is bragging?

China isn't india and so they won't brag as much as the shit skins.

China got haolian? Korea never haolian? You sure? They have been bragging how superior they are to everyone it even appeared on a taiwanese talk show about korea boasting how good they are. Why you make up stuff when it didn't even happen.

To use your analogy about what racing on the track do you see the 3rd guy that came in a distant 3rd whooping and yelling and cheering? Don't think so.
