Structural unemployment means those who lost their jobs are not likely to be hired again to do their previous jobs. Their previous jobs have gone away to other countries or been made obsolete by technology or been replaced by more productive labor.

The only solution these jobless people have is to go for re-training and diversify into other industries. This is something they need to help themselves because there is a limit to what the government could do for them.

Take my personal experience,my last job was in 1993 when I was retrenced as a GM of a MNC,I went on a job hunt.

After sending out thousands of application letters,I got no response at all.

I gong gond did not know what happened,a good CV,had been head hunted by korn Ferry as GM before,I got no choice but forced to do my own small little biz,that was 18 years ago.'

Years later ,then I realised that traitors PAP fucked around that time,PAP took it upon themselves to open wide the flood gate and all the Ang Mohs are invited into Singapore to take over the management jobs.

We started with Ang Mohs,in the 50+then we replaced them in the 70+,by the 90+,PAP traitors invited the silly Ang Mohs to come back & take over our jobs!except theirs as no compertiton allowed and they raised their own pay to be the highest in the world.

Lucky that it was a blessing for me,I have my own biz now and enjoy it too,but not so lucky many of my regional marketing friends,many are still with out jobs till today,it is now a fact of life in LKY's Singapore,ypou as a citizen do notr ask why Ang Moh who are less competent than you can take the jobs at higher pay too!As dadyy LKY said so

I believe at some point of time, there is a need for one to go into setting up his/her own business at the rate things are going. I would even use the term, necessity. As long as you are an employee and age above 40, it is very diffcult to find another job that could offer similar pay if one is being retrenched. Such is the reality in Singapore nowadays, with all these FTs importation.

Wherever possible, one should aim to be debt free by the time one's is at 45 or latest at 50, ie housing loans, car loans, taken care of. With at least 100k in savings, (frankly, 100k don't get you far nowadays). If you are with family, kids in tow, you might even need more.

While it is tough to go into business at this age (40+), I believe it is never too late to do that.

Yes,bro,during this festive season,I would like to wish all my fellow citizens,brothers & sisters who suffered in the hands of those idiotic traitors,and to those who think they are lucky as nothing happened to them,so far so good,but u would not know when these things would happen to you,unless you happen to be Lee & Lees,do not be so sure.

And there is no way of getting back that job, because it is likely to goes to a cheaper FT. Even if you are prepared to lower down your pay, PAP would go and get even cheaperer FT to replace it.

As for encouragement, the taxi drivers are working for the taxi companies, rain or shine, they get their daily rentals, whether you get your fare or not, its not their problem. Taxi driving is, probably enough just to get one's family by, the barest minimum, I might say.

According to MOM, there are 3.1mil jobs in the Singapore workforce now. But only 1.05mil goes to the locals.

Therefore, there are 2mil jobs that go to the foreigners. Since Singapore has only 3mil population and that half could not work due to age or too young, the working population must be 1.5mil. Therefore 450 000 are jobless according to MOM.

According to statistics, only 57% are locals and only 40% are singapore born locals. We are already outnumbered now. Therefore, out of 1.05mil that locals took out, new born citizens are included as well.

Dont be surprised to see the MRT, Shopping Centres and everywhere crowded with foreigners since they outnumbered the locals at a ratio of 2:1.

However, the proportional of locals that is jobless are actually higher so it not surprising to see a ratio of 3:1 to 5:1 everywhere since many locals are forced to work as taxi drivers, insurance agents, estate agents and as hawkers.

Note that the gov actually own 60-70% of all the companies in Singapore and many of them do not travel on the MRT, thus not surprising, in another decade, it not a surprise to see entire districts, even entire MRT and shopping centre patronized by foreigners.

Yes,a very strong force for PAP ,government servants & GLCs,they feed their employees very well,for example,lsat year Keppel group gave 9 months bonus to their employees,who are laughing all the way to the banks,these are the people,they cant help themselves by singing praises of MM LKY nons-top!from early morning till they close their eyes.
