Quote:SINGAPORE: A new website run by a former editor of The Real Singapore, on Thursday (May 7) changed its name in order to avoid "legal confrontations" with Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).

The site, originally named Straits Times Review has rebranded itself as the States Times Review.
Its original name was apparently too close for comfort as SPH's broadsheet newspaper The Straits Times, which lodged a trademark infringement complaint to Facebook.

The States Times Review, set up by blogger and systems engineer Alex Tan, describes itself as an “independent news site based in Australia”. It emerged shortly after authorities in Singapore ordered the shutdown of The Real Singapore (TRS).

The site was also unavailable earlier on Thursday, but the administrator said it was due to "massive amount of traffic" that they underestimated.

So, PAPsmearer has a question for the SHit Times.

Why does the Straits Times lodge a trademark infringement complain against Straits Times Review, but have done nothing against The New Straits Times in Malaysia? After all The New Straits Times is an even more outright infringement of their name and they even carry out business in the same industry.

Straits Times Review should not back down. This trademark infringement complaint was not lodge with the IPOS under the trademark ACT, but was instead lodge with Facebook. Why? The Shit Times know that if they lodge it with IPOS, it will not fly as they must also lodge it against New Straits Times. And that is a much bigger fish they cannot fry.

States Times Review or Stale Times Review... it doesn't matter. Let's get on with the news. We want the news fresh and honest and not the stale news dished out daily by The Straits Times.

straight times review as opposed to gay times review is still open for grabs. :p

what a no brainer .... Statestimes ? Change to Straight-times lah omg !!!

Whatever name so long as it exposes the evils and corruption of the Leegime.
