I hardly think $1.6K for a dishwasher is pittance, especially when SDP have proven that a of 4 family earning $2.5 can survive in SG. 2 working adults in family * 1.6K income = 3.2K

In UK, those Tube drivers even demand extra money to drive the train on special occasions. lol

MRT drivers in London are highly paid workers, a lot of qualify teacher quit their teaching job to drive train. I think now they earn about 100 000 sg dollars per year. About 8300 dollars per month. They still go on strike once in a while, like when they want to reduce staff or think of getting driverless train etc.

Yes and the reason we have a high employment rate is precisely becoz lazy bums cannot live on their savings indefinitely.

Misleading statistics once again. For one, it does not say whether real income has been maintained.

If a manager who was retrenched last year, is employed as a cleaner this year, is this better?

Other people in this thread have tried to explain exceptions to the unemployment statistics because of:

1. Self Employment

of course jobless rate falls cuz most sinkgapore self proclaim...self employed.

2. Not counted as part of the unemployed

When people are out of job for more than 6 months, they're out of the unemployment statistic.

Finally thank you for your concern. I'll let them know Golden Age is here again after having searched fruitlessly for the past 5 years. I am sure employers will look favorably at their varied experience and spirit of self-sufficiency.
