true or false?

I find it hard to believe

did they use 'creative' counting to arrive at this figure again?

ST facts & figures are to be taken with a pinch of salt!

Many local PMETs displaced by FTs are now gainfully employed as security guards, taxi drivers, cleaners etc.

Of course it is true. All it means is that a large chunk of unemployed have stopped looking for work. They are either working on part-time basis, earning an income in illegal ways or just stopped looking and be housewives or househusbands. They get by by renting out their bedrooms or the entire flat.

Bros, what its trying to say there are so many jobs created and not enough people to fill in so its time we need to take in more FTs. That's the message, got nothing to do with low jobless rate.

of course jobless rate falls cuz most sinkgapore self proclaim...self employed.:D

stopped believing what's written in 154 for a long long time.

When people are out of job for more than 6 months, they're out of the unemployment statistic.

Misleading statistics once again. For one, it does not say whether real income has been maintained.

If a manager who was retrenched last year, is employed as a cleaner this year, is this better?

He is not gainfully employed.

But WDA and NTUC will tell you that a job is better than no job, and you'd best be less choosy.

We often hear of "gov't" surveys which provides questionable feedback:D

These unemployment numbers are probably from the same phantom Sporeans ;) Spore has no unemployment benefits, the authorities can conveniently ignore large segments of the unemployed:eek:

Johnny333 said it, Singapore has no unemployment benefits. Since we dont have unemployment benefits U think pple can afford not to work??? If you want to know whether true or not, just look at the pple around U and their friends and relatives, do U see widespread unemployment? If unemployment rate is really bad then you will at least know some pple that are getting affected.

Yes!, last time they tell you, that there are a dozen Malaysians wanting that job, now they tell you that, there is a "United Nation" of 10,000 workers out there, wanting that job; so take that $800 cleaner job!!, which is lower than any of the 10,000 "United Nation" of workers get. So, this is what you get, when you vote. haha haha!!:p

nah beh....shit times like to talk cock and blow shit.

this news follow by another : HR experts say hiring down for 2012.

contradicting shit.

GCT said Singaporeans have reached Swiss standard of livings.
LKY said Singaporeans have comfortable golden years.

So you still believe the usual craps, especially from the same party?:oIo:

There are no pensions in Singapore either. Can old people afford to retire if they have no pensions?

It's savings, you twit. That's how people can "afford" not to work after retirement or periods of unemployment.

Let's see. About 1 in 10 working age men unemployed, 2 in 5 underemployed/self-employed (yes, many one-man businesses are frequently bad substitutes to employment) and increasingly more women (with or without children) staying at home. Would you then acknowledge my experience to be representative of the population, or will you then say "Oh! It doesn't agree with the population sample, so it must be a biased sample."

Do you admit you do not wish to acknowledge it even if you witness it yourself?

The best way to control a population is to ensure that you don't give out unemployment benefits. Every fella sure stay in line and don't stray. This works especially well for those with commitment to houses or cars or have mounting credit card bills.

That's why u see in other countries, those protestors can go on strikes and still get paid. In UK, those Tube drivers even demand extra money to drive the train on special occasions. lol

Yes and the reason we have a high employment rate is precisely becoz lazy bums cannot live on their savings indefinitely.

Most employer out there is getting desperate for Singaporeans in coz of the FT manpower squeeze. Tell them to get off their big asses and start working

means all the FT in singapore have found jobs, and none are unemployed....
