I was double-charged by Singtel
STOMPer Rach was shocked when she saw her mobile phone bill.
Her phone bill was double the usual amount and when she
called to enquire with SingTel, she was told to call back during working hours.
Said the STOMPer:
"I was shocked to see that my SingTel phone bill has amounted to $157 when my normal bill is only around $63.
"It’s more than double of my normal usage. I then realise that SingTel charged me for my mobile data together with my data plan when they’re supposed to deduct the usage charges when I’ve subscribed to a data plan for my iPhone. This means they double charge me, both data plan and data usage.
"Imagine if I didn't check my bill or if I had opted for GIRO payment, I won’t realise the mistake made by them and would have paid the amount blindly!
"The difference is not 80 cents but $88! Let’s say for an average family or a student, how long would one take to earn that money? And Singtel could just anyhow bill their customers.
"But when I called the SingTel hotline, they told me to call back again during working hours 8 to 6pm instead of initiating to call me back the next working day to verify the error. And it takes them three working days to call me back if I want to request for them to give me a ring back.
"Is this the kind of 'good' customer service they are offering when it's their mistake!
"I would like to remind everyone using SingTel's service to take note of their bill as you won’t know when they will make such mistake again."
