Anyone has any insiders' information? Did Lim Neo Chian leave on his own accord or was he ousted? It's funny the report did not say where he is going. A clear sign that he did not leave willingly??

A NEW chief has been appointed for the Singapore Tourism Board.

Chief executive officer and deputy chairman Lim Neo Chian will step down at the end of the year after six years at the helm.

He was credited for his leadership which took Singapore through the severe acute respiratory syndrome crisis in 2003 which saw tourism numbers plunge and hotel rooms stayed empty.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade & Industry said: 'In Neo Chian's six years with the STB, he has provided the leadership and drive behind the STB's bold initiatives to transform Singapore's tourism landscape.

'Under his stewardship, we have enjoyed four successive years of record growth in visitor arrivals and tourism receipts. MTI wishes to thank Neo Chian for his outstanding contributions to the STB and wish him all the best in his future endeavours, and we welcome Kah Peng onboard as chief executive.'

His successor, Ms Aw Kah Peng, 41 hails from the Economic Development Board.

She has had more than 17 years of experience at EDB joining it in 1990 as an industry officer for chemicals in the industry development division.

She currently oversees a diverse group of industries including energy, chemicals, engineering services, biomedical sciences, logistics, education, professional services, consumer care and health and wellness business growth.

A Ministry of Trade and Industry press statement said that 'Ms Aw's experience in the attraction and development of critical large investor projects, coupled with her extended industry links with the lifestyle and services clusters make for an excellent match with the STB's blueprint for future growth'.

Too much good life n pay for doing little............ conscience pricks them n their organs fail
In any case Lim NC did not do a good job in Suzhou, STech n STB..... albeit better as he paved the way for Casino Resorts

It WAS reported in the Shitty Times in the past, about his cancer. That time, they reported that he was taking extended leave to try and recover. I guess it is the end now.

I believe it was reported sometime ago already that he is ill, yes as Confuseous said, cancer.

I don't think it has anything to do with conscience

More likely inactivity, too much rich food,.... not enough time in the golf course :)

Just a personal view. I think this guy though bad may still be a better human than the others. Cancer is mainly the result of stress (if we exclude genetic). If a person can feel stressed, I presumed that he probably knows that he is not up to the mark or is not delivering i.e. still has a little conscience. People like Saw will never develop cancer because she honestly believe that she is doing a great job and all mistakes are no faults of hers. There are many such creatures up there.
