Putting aside the debate whether they are capable or have empathy for peoples' problems for the moment, you can understand why some ministerial appointments are made.
Tharman in Finance, TCH formerly in Defence and now in Home Affairs, Shanmugam in Law, Heng in Education (he was there as a civil servant).
What is difficult to comprehend is why Dr Vivian, a qualified MD and former CEO of SGH, has not been appointed Health Ministar, to look into and resolve a key concern of most Singaporeans, particularly given the ageing population.
Even KBW was a former PS of the Health ministry, was he not? (Can someone confirm that, thanks.)
Not even sure what GKY's background is, but why is he helming this ministry when someone with such credentials is available?
Is this taking the 'fresh eyes" concept a stretch too far?
