The perception that S'poreans have a low standard of living despite the country's wealth comes from the extremely high cost of living and certain quality of life trade-offs, which can contrast sharply with the high GDP per capita stats. S'pore is the most expensive city in the world, which impacts the actual purchasing power of even high income earners.

The only countries with a lower rate of car ownership in the world than S'pore are Burundi, The Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Tanzania, which are all Third World African countries. S'pore is supposedly the 2 second richest country in the world after Switzerland!

I have already mentioned this:

---

1. Conformity of thought. No independent thought. Consensus through propaganda.

2. Weaken your citizens. Weak people = strong country (political rule).

3. Keep your citizens busy and preoccupied with the minutiae of daily living, and thus have no time for other things (e.g. politics).

4. Humiliate your citizens. Keep their self-esteem low, belittle their worth. Incite them to attack and distrust one another, let them live in a climate of fear.

5. Impoverish your citizens. Let them have the basic necessities, and rob or tax their surplus wealth (includes price inflation and excessively printing money). Impoverished people have low aspirations.

If the above five methods fail, kill them.

The PAP uses legal and political means to suppress opposition and dissent, creating a climate where S'poreans feel it is safer to comply than to challenge authority. The SG govt will use defamation lawsuits to bankrupt political opponents, limiting the space for public debate.

In George Orwell's novel, Animal Farm, the pigs led by Napoleon, establish themselves as the ruling/superior class. They take over decision-making, enjoy privileges and use brute force (the dogs) to eliminate political rivals and suppress any opposition among the other animals. In the S'pore parallel, critics of the govt point to its use of a strong central authority and limited tolerance for political dissent. Methods cited include the use of defamation lawsuits to bankrupt and silence political opponents.

The country does not have wealth it's the government that has wealth.

Alot especially boomers took morbid pride with the fact that Singapore has a very high cost of living because it seems they are unaware that the higher the cost of living = the lower your standard of living.

More vouchers = more credit creation = massive increase of current money supply = value of money goes down = prices of goods go up. Rast time is quantitative easing by Helicopter Ben (central banks) expanding their balance sheet to soak up banks NPA and reducing interest rates in the attempt to kickstart the fuckup economy but seems like nowdays the garhmen even more hiong by injecting the inflation directly into the hands of consumers...... and morbidly many are cheering for it without the understanding that the vouchers came by diluting the value of your savings to a certain extend.
