S'porean arrested at Manila airport for drug possession

SINGAPORE: A Singaporean man was arrested at Manila airport on Friday night after authorities found more than eight kilogrammes of the illegal drug methamphetamine hydrochloride in his possession.

Philippine airport authorities said the man reportedly arrived at Manila airport from Bangkok via a Thai Airways flight.

The Singaporean is now in the custody of Philippine aviation and customs authorities.

Violation of the Philippines' anti-drug laws carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
