The old man wanted low-medium skilled people due to fear. But that type of economy failed by late 70s and thus the polys were born. But that conceited belief of lying and trickery of toilet paper stamped bureaucrats were smarter than technical gurus never changed. Most of those helming eductation are 3rd goondus pretending to know sth.
Our curriculum is a worldclass joke splattered with ridiculous coursework that has only one goal to be a laughing stock. The goal of engineering of solving problems technically is non-existent. It is to solve with the cheebye mouth and milk the project budgets for own pockets.
Be ready for pipe bursting and more.
I am not so sure about the importance of engineering to Singapore. Since forever, engineers have always been paid much lower than doctors, lawyers and accountants. My kids will pursue either law or medicine in the university. That's where the big money is. And if they do well, they could easily crossover into politics and join the PAP.
Most engineers I know are not earning much. They would be lucky to make even a third of what an average doctor or lawyer makes.

since when was singapore ever a engineering country?do we built any shit like the germans or koreans or japs?we are just a paper engineering country simply because we are a country of chinks and chinks are good at maths........engineering is probably the most common degree in singapore and we produce engineers on paper by the busloads,hordes and hordes of sinkies qualify for engineering course every year but surprisingly we produce nothing of value in this world at all.our engineers are so shitty they cannot even maintain a mrt system.how can u claim we have the best engineers and best infrastructure in the world when everything in singapore is imported?have u ever seen a jetplane designed by sinkies?or trains or buses or automobiles?have u ever seen lifts or elevators engineered by sinkies?no otis or mitsubishi or fujitsu or Kone or schindler are all foreign imported technology.sinkies cant even engineer a military vehicle or assualt weapon for christ sake,we can spend 14 billion a year on defense and donate 2 bil dollars to australia,but we cannot produce a shitty assault rifle.we are the richest country in the world but sinkies cannot engineer a single shit.

It is amazing the government thinks we can build a first-rate country with third-rate people from fourth-rate countries. Crucial industries are now ghettoized by people with scant regard for Singaporeans and cannot believe our stupidity and their good fortune. Singapore is slowly slipping behind and we no longer enjoy the admiration of the world. They just come here to exploit us.

Loong has no eq nor iq.Singapore needs iq as it can leverage on technology and processes. EQ is just leeching and deleveraging talent that can solve problems. EQ people are your enemies. They cause office politics and disaster in companies and governments. IQ implemented properly means the systems will run efficiently with trasparent and objective measurements not like Singapore's all fake statistics esp on economics.
