According to the latest report on World Happiness published by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Singapore is the 24th most happy nation in the world.
The most happy country was Switzerland followed by Iceland and Denmark.
The report describes its aim as being a proper measure of social progress and is intended to reflect to goals of public policy.
The report started in 2012 and this is the 3rd version to be released.
On the World Happiness Report Website, http://worldhappiness.report/ "The reports review the state of happiness in the world today and show how the new science of happiness explains personal and national variations in happiness. They reflect a new worldwide demand for more attention to happiness as a criteria for government policy."
According to the list, here are the top 10 happy countries:










1. Switzerland
2. Iceland
3. Denmark
4. Norway
5. Canada
6. Finland
7. Netherlands
8. Sweden
9. New Zealand
10. Australia
Other Asian countries which made the top 50 include Thailand (34), Taiwan (38), Japan (46) and South Korea (47).
The report looked at factors such as GDP per capita, Life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, and corruption. All areas which Singapore would score fairly well in.
Other factors looked at include the level of social support and generosity in the country.

Politicians are grossly underpaid. That's why in most countries, politicians and civil servants are synonymous with dishonesty and corruption. Singapore is amongst the exceptions. We have to thank LKY for his foresight in paying civil servants and elected officials a good wage.
