Since becoming head of the media business, he has wasted a lot of money in renovating the newsrooms with expensive digital equipments. But after more than 5years in charge, he has shown zero results. Digital revenue is so low after all the investments put in that he doesn't dare to reveal the amount. At the same time, print revenue continues to plummet.
What people like him doesn't understand is it's not the format but the product that matters. No amount of digital technology can help if the quality of journalism sucks. Right now, I get latest information on the pandemic from a whole lot of free reliable high quality news sources other than Straits Times and all the other SPH papers. Even CNA is doing a better job in reporting.

Just announced its student dormitories investment in UK gonna be hit with 4 to 8 million Euro loss in revenue for this year because of Corona. These investments were supposed to help subsidise the decline in media revenue. Double trouble now.
