World Cup holders Spain have retained their first place position in the latest FIFA rankings.

La Roja top the list ahead of Germany and Argentina, who remain second and third respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal are up to fourth with Columbia rounding out the top five.

Switzerland have jumped to sixth, overtaking Uruguay and Italy. World Cup hosts Brazil have moved up one place to ninth, ahead of the Netherlands.

The rankings are based on the 42 international fixtures that took place in the relevant period. 40 of the games played were friendlies.

The next set of rankings will be published on March 13.
