It mean more India ah nehs will come here to compete with you for spaces at the mrt, jobs and housing. The idea of a convention to link the South Asian diaspora was initiated by President Nathan, this is how he reward sinkies at the end of his term in office.

COME July 21 and 22, some 500 delegates will assemble at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore to take part in the inaugural South Asian Diaspora Convention.
The convention, called Linking the South Asian Diaspora, will bring together intellectuals, policy-makers and business and industry leaders to celebrate the success of the diaspora.
The event is being organised by the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) and it will be officiated by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. On the first day there will be a gala dinner at which President S.R. Nathan will be the guest of honour and Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong a special guest.
On the second day, there will be a dialogue with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, which will be moderated by Professor Kishore Mahbubani.
Chairman of ISAS and chairman of the South Asian Diaspora Convention Organising Committee Gopinath Pillai said: “The convention is intended to provide a platform for the far-flung diaspora to come together and interact. The idea of a convention to link the South Asian diaspora was initiated by President Nathan.”
Speakers at the convention are expected to include former US deputy secretary of state Richard Armitage, editor-in-chief of The Indian Express Group Shekhar Gupta, chairman and group CEO of Financial Technologies (India) Jignesh Shah, chairman of SPRING Singapore and Special Adviser for Economic Development in the Prime Minister’s Office Philip Yeo, CEO of DBS Piyush Gupta, former finance minister of Pakistan Shahid Javed Burki and Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes.
The convention is supported by Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, International Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board, Economic Development Board and Monetary Authority of Singapore.
The Singapore and Asian alumni chapters of top educational institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Management, Stanford and INSEAD are also supporting the event.
The South Asian diaspora numbers almost 30 million globally.
