67-year-old taxi driver, Mr Zhang, gambled so much that on Sep 2, 2010, his son got authorities to issue a casino restriction order against him.

In July, his wife and son tried to stop him from visiting the IRs.

By this time, he had spent only two months visiting the casinos, but had already lost $80,000.

He had arguments with them, and even left home at one point in time, saying that he wanted to commit suicide.

The incident eventually involved the police.

You do not understand the difference between the different types of gambling. The worst gambling addictions come from forms of gambling that provide the shortest delay to gratification or payout. Games like those in the casinos and jackpot machines are the worst because the delay between placing your bet and knowing whether you have won or lost can be as short as a few seconds. Instant tickets would come under this category as well but you need to take the additional effort to do the scratching.

Thank you for opening up the debate to include the issue of "frequency " " pay out" and highs of gambling addiction

Other readers out there please read up on the studies and the well documented nature of gambling addiction, gambling highs and its similairities to coccaine.

One might also note the issue of ease of access. Casino's understand inherently that offering gamblers ease of access to a casino will increase profits and at the same time the resultant ills.

Batam is a holiday away, Cruise Ship requires leave, the Casino is on your door step. A US Goverment Study backed up by the Australian Government states factually that a Casino within Twenty miles automatically increases or doubles the no of gambling addicts within the country.
