Some of Singapore’s top chefs are fed up with the government’s on-again, off-again measures to stop the spread of Covid-19, which include a temporary shutdown of in-person dining.

...........“The food and beverage industry is disgusted with this last news,” Chef-Owner Ryan Clift of Tippling Club said in a WhatsApp message Thursday. Restaurants have “now just been bent over by an industry that quite frankly should not exist in a country that prides itself on such high standards and strict regulations,” he said, referring to the karaoke cluster and nightlife establishments’ ability to apply for food and beverage licenses in order to continue operating in pandemic times.

.......“Speechless,” said Ivan Brehm of Michelin-starred Nouri, which ranked number 73 in a list of Asia’s best restaurants list for 2021, on Facebook Wednesday. “This last lockdown.... a pill very hard to swallow. Wondering how much of Covid cases worldwide or in S’pore specifically are directly connected to restaurants... or music for that matter. Politics, cosmetic policies, disdain for an industry all too eager to help, and sheer arrogance; a recipe for disaster. Believe me, I’m a Chef.”

This is a hands on top chef. As I know many top chefs are not hands on and they are only instructors and some of them may even feel uncomfortable to roll up their sleeves to cook in the kitchens

Called it. All the holier-than-thou haters of KTVs, nightclubs, and adult entertainment industry etc crawling out of the woodwork now. I can point to a more culpable source for the pandemic fuckup but naturally it's very convenient to pick on the low-hanging fruit.

These chefs conveniently forget who spread to these KTV girls in the first place.
Someone speculated its some Indon fisherman without offering any proof but we all know it started with the Changi Airport cluster...
The Viets govt apparently reacted quickly but the Indons too busy to be playing the blame game.
Wondering who is really in charge of this country

only 1.69% at established eateries in sf contributed to the positivity rate in 2020, and this mainly involved eatery staff as all eateries that were opened served take out meals much of 2020. private parties in homes, underground or basements, and unapproved venues contributed most to the surge during semi-lockdowns in early 2021. the science and data indicated non-compliant group events to be most at risk. restaurants, eateries, fast food joints which pay taxes, get permits, comply with county and city health guidelines, are in fact some of the safest places to hang around inside and outside in small groups with masks on and social plus sexual distancing. the same cannot be said about illegal and or unapproved (f&b) venues for indoor group events. gov could have easily sniff this out and shut those places with targetted surgical enforcement instead of ”one rule applies to all” cover your butt bs.

Actually the import n also dine in F&B ars the true course of spread, the clowns, are blind n blur, they should go n see howthey run the place, hygiene is anither questiin in handling food n used items

Do these chefs have track record in governing a country or managing a pandemic? Only know how to talk, no action. Just like the oppies.

These chefs act like they are saving humanity. Pls la… offering overpriced meals is hardly public service.
