So, the PAP brags that they are controlling foreign workers here with this boast that 2600 employment passes were not renewed in the first six months of 2013. But they don't tell you how many more tens of thousands passes were issued.

Look, 2.3 million foreigners in this tiny island is too many. We got to bring it down to 230k or less.

It is just like telling u that the increase in transport fares in general are used to subsidize the elderly and students.

Lol.... Sounds like 80% of the population subsidizing 20%. What happened to the surplus?

2.6K is peanut, but how many is approve?? Why not indicated. Half fxxk answer.

Hannor ....wtf is the fucking difference when you claim you did not renew 2600 but you dont say that you granted 5000 new ones chow cheebye........

Bullshitting everyday now nobody believes a single fucking you say pap.......

Fuck you and fuck off!!!

These arse holes think they are being creative and clever.
They use absolute numbers (in this case) when it suits them. It means that the percentage is very low.

They use percentage figures when they help to bolster their argument.

They use examples of other countries when they have nothing to say.

It is obvious that they think we are really daft.

It's like your son telling u he got third in class without telling you his class size is 10.

how about additional employment pass issued to the new comer (who never come to singapore previously)?
how about total empployment pass?

without the above information, it is meaningless to talk about 2300 work plass

But aren't those 60.1% really daft?

Anyway, the 2,600 figure is nothing but just like a mere drop in the ocean. Nothing to brag about by the MOM.

same thing for traffic congestion...blah blah blah ERP, COE...when the total population of vehicles still remain..

Can they not renew Zorro Toothpick's pass?

The 35,000 foreign workers in the construction sector make up only a small portion of the 1.55m transient workers we have in Singapore. Did anyone mention we need to bring FTs in to do the jobs that Singaporeans don't want to do? It's 35,000 nia. Even minus the cleaners and all, the other 1.4m are here to steal your jobs.

Singapore population grew by 1.6% to 5.4m from july 12 to june 13, so it comes up to an increase in the population of 70,000 or so,.

Over the past five years, there have been some 20,000 new citizens each year.

If only the Braddell Brothel report news objectively like this. Knn, you must do your own calculations to get the figures.

We are daft depending on which side of the percentage you are on, the 60% are daffy duck, all quack, quack & no balls. The whole tree is rotten, they tell you the trim the tree only...QUITE A LARGE PORTION, '2,600'...happy? the rest, pay their salaries, dude! :p

It's like telling you they just plucked 2,600 leaves from a large tree. They forgot to add there are still million of leaves out there, and in the meantime, the tree grew back tens of thousands of leaves while they were plucking the leaves.

They're not renewed probably because they have been converted to Pee-R or shittyzens.

singaporeans will do any job that pays a decent living wage.

this will lead to an escalation of costs for businesses and likely passed to consumers. but the free markets should (theoretically) even things out.

There's more to this story than that. This is true on the surface but misleading in substance. Anyone knows why ?

It is called a living wage. We are not slaves and we shouldn't work for peanuts. Companies can get away from paying a living wage because the government floods the country with millions of foreigners, from squalid environments, who are willing to work for dirt pay. The dirt pay in sinkapore is middle-class income in their homeland.

this will lead to an escalation of costs for businesses and likely passed to consumers. but the free markets should (theoretically) even things out.

40 years after independence, sinkapore is still relying on low-cost to compete instead of value-add, innovation. Tells you how intellectually bankrupt is our government. And we pay them the highest in the world.
