Workers' Party (WP) chief Low Thia Khiang has questioned whether the People's Action Party's (PAP) Desmond Choo was the strongest candidate that the ruling party could field for the Hougang by-election.
Just as how the PAP had earlier cast doubts over the WP's Png Eng Huat as the party's best choice, Mr Low said the PAP's leaders should explain to voters why it did not send Ong Ye Kung - a member of the PAP's losing team in Aljunied at last year's general election - to stand in Hougang instead.
"The prime minister once said that he would eventually bring (Mr Ong) into Parliament as he is a potential member of Singapore's fourth-generation leadership core. Desmond Choo was never mentioned at all, so is Desmond their best man (for Hougang)?" said Mr Low during his party's third and final rally last night
