Is the service soft? India not only bought the "China built" aircraft carrier, but also issued a larger request.

Aircraft carrier

The picture shows India plans to build a new aircraft carrier

India, which always regards China as an imaginary enemy, has finally become soft on China. According to media reports, India recently revealed its own shipbuilding plan, and this time it broke past practice and directly pleaded with China, hoping to buy "China-made" aircraft carrier construction equipment. Just recently, India issued another one. The bigger request is to purchase the gantry crane equipment made in China. The answer is surprising. It is not surprising that there are few countries that can build gantry cranes, and China is one of the few countries that can build large gantry cranes.

Recently, India’s aircraft carrier plan was exposed, and for the first time, China’s shipbuilders were ordered to order Chinese shipbuilding equipment to build their own domestic aircraft carriers. The Indian Navy currently has two aircraft carriers, one of which is currently in service, and one Vigram aircraft carrier is under construction. The ultra-Nisri was not made in India but from the disintegrated Soviet Union. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was unable to maintain its Kiev-class aircraft carrier Golshkov. Just as India intended to purchase the ship, it will have the Gorshkov. The aircraft carrier was sold to India and renamed the Super-Nisri after entering service in India.

The picture shows India MiG-29K carrier aircraft

The ultra-Nisri came to India after a series of major changes, the biggest improvement is the removal of a large number of weapons and equipment equipped on the original forefront deck of the Kiev-class aircraft carrier, and a slide take-off deck was built in the original position to use Take-off and landing MiG-29K carrier aircraft. In terms of appearance, the Super Nisshin is like a narrowed Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier with a standard displacement of 38,000 tons, which is more than 10,000 tons smaller than the Kuznetsov class.

The small size of its carrying capacity is also relatively small, Chao Riwang can carry up to 24 MiG-29K carrier-based aircraft, see the number and China's Liaoning No. disparity, but in fact the ability to combat difference. The MiG-29K is a medium and light carrier-based aircraft with a short range and a small charge. A lot worse than the One 15 and it can be seen from this point that the maximum take-off weight of the MiG-29K is 20 tons, while that of the Fiji 15 can bring more than 9 tons of fuel, close to half of the MiG-29K's maximum take-off weight. Well, let alone the weapon system.

Pictured before and after the conversion of the Super Nisshin King

Therefore, India is worried about the performance of the current aircraft carrier and believes that it is not enough to face the pressure of China's future at sea. There is a need to build larger aircraft carriers with greater combat effectiveness. According to the idea of the Indian military, the new generation of aircraft carriers will use nuclear power and have a maximum displacement of more than 60,000 tons to carry heavy-duty carrier-based aircraft. However, according to the situation of the aircraft carrier Vikrant, which is being built in India, it is very difficult for India to independently complete a more advanced aircraft carrier.

India itself also knows this and intends to seek help from the outside world. Among them, the United Kingdom will empty out a number of shipbuilding equipment after the construction of its own Queen’s aircraft carrier. India intends to purchase it from the United Kingdom. The most important equipment is the large-scale gantry cranes built in China. It is difficult for India to use Chinese equipment in the military industry. The British are unbelievable. However, from the point of view of India buying from the United Kingdom and not buying directly from China, India still has to face its death, and finally it must live to suffer.

tWK--fzyqqiq1604961.jpg

dZyV-fzyqqiq1605082.gif

India's gantry crane actually smashed its frigates
India's gantry crane actually smashed its frigates
0

Labor Day is finally over! Shi Lang enjoyed his deserved treatment on Labor Day. This is not May 2. He hastened to update a wave. The P-17A frigate that had just milked a wave of three brothers a few days ago did not expect this to happen. Shi Lang’s mouth-mouthed poisonous milk had an effect: the 250-tonne gantry crane of the Gardridge Shipbuilding Engineering Company’s shipyard in Calcutta. Suddenly collapsed on April 17 and the overwhelmed dry dock was a P-17A frigate that had just started.

▲ Don’t say it, the accident scene was terrible

In Shier's article, the first P-17A started in Mazargan's shipyard in Mumbai, and Calcutrich Shipbuilding Engineering Company in Calcutta was another major contractor in P-17A. According to the current plan of the Indian Navy, four of the seven P-17A are Mazagang, and three of them are of this Gardenridge. This time, they are suspended by the gantry and do not know if the next order will happen. It will change.

▲ We thought that the progress of the P-17A at Mazakang Shipyard was a bit slow. Now...Mazagang is in a whirlwind

Therefore, according to Shi Yong’s statement, this is surely the damage done by the neighboring Mazargan shipyard. After all, my peers are not able to keep up with you and I have to destroy you.

From satellite photos and start-up time, it is assumed that there is not much progress in the construction of the P-17A at Gardener Ridge, and there are no parts beyond the height of the dock. Therefore, the gantry crane collapsed and it collapsed. However, it is not easy to say whether there is any frigate or squatting ground. If it arrives, it may be damaged and it needs to be rebuilt. Even if it does not arrive, the huge vibration will shock the hull of the frigate and affect the subsequent construction. It can be seen.

▲ The P-17A in the dock in Gardenridge in February this year...the progress is still very...not much

Considering that the current P-17A parts in the dock may have a lot of distance to float, the more secure method is simply to dismantle the frigate and rebuild it. After all, the price of these hundreds of tons of steel products is now coming again, apparently. It would be cheaper to change the raft after the frigates.

The cause of the accident has not yet been ascertained. However, judging from the posture of the gantry condescending in the shipyard, in all likelihood, the collapse of the entire bridge caused by corrosion on the gantry structure or due to fatigue caused by the fracture. As a small-scale boat factory, there is still a lot of problems with this gantry crane at Gardener Ridge. According to the site's survey news, the gantry crane has been repaired with no hope of confirming scrapping, and only a new gantry crane can be customized. On the other hand, because the dock gate of the Gardner Ridge shipyard was originally opened by this gantry crane, now this thing is a trip. The 170-ton dock door has become the iron bridge that no one can move. It is said that before the new gantry crane is secured, The dock cannot open the door.

Of course, the shipyard is not in a hurry to open the door anyway. Not to mention that the P-17A frigate's hull should be rebuilt. The Gardridge Shipyard now has only a small crane and wants to build a P-17A by him. It may also be. Really do not worry about the dock door - anyway, it will not be repaired in a short while. However, the good news is that the relationship between China and India has eased. Therefore, Zhenhua Heavy Industry is looking for a new gantry crane.

▲ When the gantry crane is erected, the thin support is actually able to support it slowly. As compared to the steel column on the other side, the strength should be a bit

The weakness of the Indian Navy's shipbuilding industry infrastructure and the chaos of management have had no impact on the naval shipbuilding program once or twice. The last time such embarrassing things came to light was even more striking: In May 2015, when India's first domestic aircraft carrier, Vikrant, was formally launched, it caused a lot of silt due to the high tide level. The docking time of the aircraft carrier has been delayed for almost a week. Now that India's aircraft carrier is behind China's aircraft carrier, it is the time that it happened.

To tell the truth, this kind of bitterness encountered the early development of the Chinese navy. When the Guangzhou Shipyard made the Type 051 destroyer on the South China Sea, there was no crane on the berth. As a result, the 40-ton crane on another berth was used across the board. The water depth of the wharf was less than that of the naval ball and the stern of the vessel, so two large pits were dug in the place corresponding to the wharf; the height of the stern was not enough, so three large pits were also dug inside the houseboat. It was not solid, it was rocky, and finally it took 318 days for the 160 ship-borne berths built in Guangzhou. The quality of construction was also a lot worse than Dalian and Shanghai. It was also a lesson learned from China’s early lack of infrastructure.

Therefore, for a relatively long period of time later, compared to building a large ship itself, “owning a ship-building ship” has become a more urgent and critical task than the former. The direct result of this obsessive-compulsive disorder is the China-made aircraft carrier construction plan. It has only been implemented for less than 10 years. At home, there are already at least two shipyards capable of building large-scale aircraft carriers. Large-scale mechanical equipment such as gantry cranes equipped with them has also reached and surpassed the level of Western-style shipyards of the same type. Compared with a single large ship, these backed-up things are the key to the late-coming industrial countries' attention and investment. (Author's signature: Hu Yu Shi Wei)

pbX--fzyqqiq3560100.jpg

asBg-fzyqqiq3560163.jpg

Collapse Of 259 Ton Goliath Crane At GRSE To Impact India’s Most Advanced Warships Program
by defenceupdate · May 1, 2018

grse-crane-259-p-17.jpg
A major accident involving collapse of a 250 tons capacity Goliath Crane at the Public Sector Garden Reach Shipbuilder & Engineers (GRSE) at Kolkata has completely damaged the hull shop thereby putting to risk the ongoing P 17 A program to built seven stealth frigates.

The P17A warships are India’s most advanced and stealthy frigates. Three out of the seven ships are being built at GRSE and remaining at at Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai (MDL) for the Indian Navy.

Sources said the accident happened on 17 April 2018 but was kept under the wraps by the management. It involved collapse of one goliath crane of 250 ton capacity, 47 meter lift covering the Module Hall, Dry Dock and inclined berth at GRSE.

This accident would cast a direct impact on P 17 A Program. Large store adjoining the Building Berth has been severely damaged and is now unusable, further impacting the work at the Shipyard.

To add to the above, new goliath cranes have a time period of 30 months from issue of tender to installation and commissioning.

The Project 17A-class frigate is a follow-on of the Project 17 Shivalik-class frigate for the Indian Navy.

The construction of the first ship started in 2017 and the first ship is expected to delivered by 2022. The anticipated cost for each vessel is above ₹4,000 crore(US$613 million) and the total deal is expected to be worth more than ₹6,400 crore(US$980 million).

Not only has the crane got damaged beyond repair, sources said that it has to be written off. This, they added has resulted in blocking of Dry Dock and Building Berth Gates. Each of these weighs about 170 ton and can be lifted only by 250 ton crane.

READ Ladakh scuffle: The importance of Pangong Tso
The Module Hall where P 17 A block were being fabricated has been totally destroyed and has become unusable.

Thus not only the ongoing programs will suffer but this may also impact the contract under negotiation with the MoD for Anti Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts.

An internal enquiry is under way to establish the cause of accident and establish responsibility.

A collapsing gantry crane across the drydock of the Damen Shipyard, Schiedam, collapsed due to extreme storm winds on Jan 3, 2017, and just miss the 'Aeolus' which was under repair at the yard. Fortunately nobody was injured in the accident. It happened between 03:00 and 03:45 a.m. The extremely hard blowing wind caused the crane to fall over, despite the fact is was properly secured and put on the brakes for the expected storm. The large gantry crane, which has been a significant landmark in Schiedam for the past decades could not withstand the forces of nature and fell over. One of the legs fell in the drydock. The exact cause of this accident is under investigation. It will take at least 3-4 weeks to remove the gantry crane from the dry-dock. Luckily the crane fell in forward direction and did not hit anything. If it had fallen over to the other side, it would have fallen on the urbine installation vessel which is presently being upgraded at Damen. Mammoet Salvage, Damen's nextdoor neighbour was assisting in the removal of the crane. It will at least take another year until Damen reaches its present rate of activity again, and extra lifting capacity will be now covered by rental cranes. The salvage operation, which a time-consuming process, will cost a few crores of rupees , said a naval officer.
MUMBAI: A day after warship INS Betwa toppled at the naval dockyard here, killing two and injuring 22, the Indian Navy has yet to figure out a way to lift the ship and has called in foreign experts.

The Navy does not have a crane that can lift the 3,850-tonne frigate, which is floating in the dry dock since she keeled over on Monday. The cranes available with the Navy can lift only 100 tonne. Mazgaon Dock has a crane with a capacity of 300 tonne, but it can't be shifted out of the premises.

The salvage operation, which a time-consuming process, will cost a few crores of rupees , said a naval officer.

Indian Navy's spokesperson in Mumbai, Commander Rahul Sinha, said the chief of naval staff Admiral Sunil Lanba visited the naval dockyard on Tuesday and was briefed about the incident. "He also met the injured sailors in naval hospital INHS Asvini.

A few specialists are likely to reach Mumbai on December 7 and are likely to complete the initial assessment within two days.

The Indian Navy shall set upright the ship and make her operational in the shortest possible time," said Sinha.

Indian Navy spokesperson (Delhi) Captain D K Sharma said that salvers will arrive on Wednesday to assess the damage. Rear Admiral Deepak Bali (FODAG) will head the board of inquiry into the mishap.

On Tuesday, the tilted warship was floating in water in the dry dock. "The dock can't now be deflooded as it could further damage the hull of the ship. Also, the dock can't be flooded because any further water ingress through the damaged part will create further problems. The authorities are in a fix because this is the first such incident the Indian Navy has witnessed and foreign experts may have to be called," said the officer.

The salvage operation will be time-consuming and can be done only after the specialists assess the nature and extent of damage. The officer said the casualties could have been high had the warship toppled when it was undergoing a refit, when hundreds of personnel were present in the drydock.
