ALOR SETAR: The Year Three pupil of a school in Baling who allegedly threatened to rape his teacher did not fully understand the meaning of the word, the Kedah Education Department found out.

Department director Datuk Mansor Lat said officials from the department had interviewed the boy at his school yesterday.

He said that based on the investigation, the boy was not a troubled child and had good academic performance.

“The teacher had taught his class when he was in Year Two and he was very fond of her. From his explanation, we found that the boy did not fully understand the meaning of the word which he had texted to the teacher,” Mansor said when contacted yesterday.

He said the boy would be given counselling at his school.

It was reported yesterday that the boy made the threat at about 10.30pm last Thursday.

He first called the teacher on the phone and then followed up with an SMS that read: “Teacher, wait I will rape you, soon.”

It was reported that the pupil allegedly texted the teacher the message after his friend was not appointed class monitor.

The teacher lodged a police report the following day.

Mansor said the department hoped to solve the matter amicably with the boy’s parents and the teacher. He said a meeting between all involved parties would be held soon.

Meanwhile, sources from the school said the boy was playing with a relative’s mobile phone when he allegedly sent the threat. The source said the boy did not understand the true meaning of his action.

Why do teachers even give their mobile phone number to students these days? Or interact with students on Facebook, Twitter etc.

If I were a teacher, the last thing I want to do is to get spammed by students for exam tips or help with their homework. Especially after working hours or weekends. That would piss me off to no end.

You want to consult a teacher? Do it during school hours. Otherwise, bugger off.

Nowadays children are really good in using words to express their emotions le ... :D
