Hundreds of commuters were evacuated from a train at Dover MRT station yesterday due to thick smoke.
Netizens say that someone had screamed in the train when it arrived at Dover station at 6.38pm yesterday.
Smoke was apparently coming out from the space between two carriages of the train.
According to an SMRT spokesperson, a train officer had detected smoke from the undercarriage of a westbound train at Dover MRT station.
Preliminary investigations show the smoke was caused by a defective motor in the middle of the train's undercarriage.
SMRT also says the delay lasted only about six minutes.
According to the Civil Defence, there was no fire in the affected train, and no one was injured.
