How can you compare the tiny red dot to the US, our PM only makes $3+ million, SM only $3+ million, MM only $3+, prez also makes only6 $3+ million,.... & no need to pay taxes

President of the Detroit Slums get a private plane.

And when they retire, they get paid US$150,000.00 per lunchtime talk. And that is so cheap, Americans will pay to have two ex-Presidents in the same talk.

No comprison at all.

Don't make stupid comparisons, F-grade scholar

Lunchtime talks are paid by participants.

Who pays for our president and ministers' salaries?

If the likes of Yeo Cheow Tong, Lim Hng Kiang and SR Nathan can make money by giving motivational speeches after retirement, no one's gonna stop them.

I never buy the argument that "slums in africa and whatever cuntry are worse". These are far larger and more chaotic countries, so they can't help everyone. Here we are a small island, which an obscenely rich government who can control everything in the country. With it wealth and power, it should be abhorred for not helping these people. By the way how bad are slums in welfare countries like Finland? The crucial expenses are covered, i wonder what their living conditions are like.

Don't make so much noise lah.

I am a tax payer like you. I suspect more so than you. And I am happy to pay them that salary to keep the likes of you and your socialist irk out of my life. Very very cheap indeed.

So Farktard Crass888,

Do you take the circle line, or are you arguing for the sake of argument? Sounds like you're the odd one out here. :oIo:

Don't know about Finland but I comment a bit about the so-called slums in that pic. Some of my mum's friends and customers(the family owns a food stall) live in such conditions and they get monthly allowance from the government, free food and groceries from various orgs, and utility bills are virtually negligible. One of my bro's friend living in a 2 room flat even had the house repainted, floor tiles, door and windows changed for free from I have no idea what government scheme about 2 months back. The entire block was getting renovated.

The poor here like everywhere else in the world isnt having the time. They need help, in fact I agree with most pple, the government can and should do more. But at the same time talking anjd interacting with such pple, I realize a lot of times, whatever the SDP and Wayangparty were most of the time, exaggerating/distorting the truth

I think u never been to HongKong b4

lol, how true.

Since you are a staunch supporter-can you tell us what's the ideology of the ruling party.

Why did they join Socialist International and why did the late President Devan Nair wrote the book ' Socialism that works ' ( when referring to Singapore).

A good place to start may be with Prof Chan Heng Chee -our Ambassador to the USA,as she has written extensively on the party. Also can try her former student Assc Prof Bilveer Singh ,who appears on TV often.

LKY has his pick of the jets owned by SIA whenever he goes on one of his junkets

Why bother with retirement when you can continue getting millions/billions from taxpayers of Spore. Americans at least have a choice as to whether they want to pay to listen to an ex-Prez, but Sporeans unfortunately don't have a choice.

You have no bloody clue. $150k a LUNCH is way above what $3 million a year can do for you.

That is correct I have no bloody idea just how much our gov't servants are REALLY making. It is all a state secret. Why so shy when they are ALL public servants ????

Are they still giving themselves 12, 13 14, ....month bonuses:confused:
How many salaries are they actually getting e.g. one for being an active MP, second for pension,.... How much is LKY making for advising the banks? Isn't it a conflict of interest

Also not forgetting that PAP MPs don't pay any income tax. Anything they make is pure profit unlike ex-US Presidents who have to pay taxes.

Spore MPs have alot of insider information & contacts, how do you know they are not using the info for extra income  They are allowed to do sidelines business & you can be sure that they wouldn't be satisfied with just peanuts.

They won't understand lah. The MONGREL who bit his masters' hands LOUDHAILER chee soon juan think Singapore is worse than Africa.

Chee Soon Juan is a citizen who's asking our public servants for answers which alot of Sporeans are afraid to ask.

Obviously you think the PAP are our masters & don't need to answer to the electorate

Aren't you even curious about how much money the gov't has lost. It is because of blind faith in the PAP that has caused so much losses.

It took a while to accept that there is such suffering in Singapore. Eventually I got older, got too busy to help, hardened my heart and moved on.:(:(:(

Hello, suffering??? Who??

The PAP specially built affordable studio apartments for these people who are poor and have no relatives to take care of them. It built a home for them - to avoid them living in the streets and become homeless. That's is a caring government.

The residents did not look after the flat themselves - keeping the place unkempt with stacks of newspapers - perhaps waiting for high price to sell to garang guni. They did not adopt personal hygienic living practices - and you want gahment to invade their privacy? Might as well ask the SCDF to go into your children or nephew's room and see the slum there!

The writer has ulterior motive - an excuse for his religious (Christian) organisation to invade the premises to proselyte the old and the poor. May be he is an AWARE member!
