A last-ditch attempt by the master tenant of an arts enclave in Mount Sophia for yet another lease extension was turned down last month.
The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) are sticking to the June 30 deadline for it to move out.
Called Old School, the former premises of the Methodist Girls' School (MGS) is home to many art galleries and creative design studios. The site has been earmarked for residential use.

Chalk's manager Keeran Benberu, 26, recalling how an old girl of MGS had celebrated her 80th birthday at the restaurant a few months ago and pointed out parts of the school such as the science laboratory and chapel



The lease was extended twice, first to Dec 31 last year, then to June 30 this year, to provide time for the master tenant to get alternative premises, said the SLA and URA in a statement to The Straits Times this week.
