Sky high rent is causing small local FNB businesses to close down one by one. How do owners stay afloat when rental takes away up to 50% of their revenue when it used to be only 15% of it 6 years ago? When international brands occupy the shop units at malls all over S'pore, we lose a valuable part of our food heritage. How many young S'poreans wish to take over the stalls and shops vacated by their ageing parents when FNB involves long hours on their feet with razor thin profit margins? They end up working for greedy landlords.
