Dear ASS,

The number of sick leave each employee gets annually is supposed to be an ENTITLEMENT. Every employee has the right to be sick and take medical leave as and when is necessary.

Therefore, I find it appalling how any company or employer could judge the performance or abilities of the men based on the number of days he/she took MC. You’re sending out a wrong message to the people- that those who are more susceptible to injuries or people with low immune system are less capable than healthier men and women with regards to work.

Employer also got no right to interview why men take MCs especially if the number taken is BELOW the annual limit set. They got no right to question if men are malingering, that’s the job of qualifed medical doctors and doing so would only undermine their expertise and judgment.

They got no right to penalize employees (e.g. low performance bonuses) or deny career progression in any form (e.g. contract renewals) or even compare abilites with another employee, by virtue of the medical leave records alone.

If you’re sick, don’t force yourselves. We are not superhumans. We have the right to be sick.

Very poor attitude. This is the reason why the PAP is forced to import resilient foreigners who will report for work no matter what.
 
Staff who took more MCs than those who do not, are weaker or more prone to injuries. Their work output tends to be not as efficient.

This writer is claiming all his entitlement for medical leave. I am sure he is also fighting to claim all compassionate leave as it is entitled to staff too. Let's see how many family members he has to claim his entire entitlement during his work life. I pity his family members.
 
Staff medical leave should be treated as part of their annual leave. This would reduce the number of skivers in the office. My hourly wage staff don't take that much MC because they know their monthly pay would be affected by their no-shows. Perm staff should be treated like that. It would help the company cut costs, improve productivity and morale.

My company actually does. If you take under 3 days a year, you receive a better work appraisal and a $50 NTUC shopping voucher.
 
Less people take mc means more people sick in the office. This means more business for GPs. Heehee. Shiok!
 
Zaid is absolute correct that MC & Hospitalisation Leave are entitlement and he should not be penalised.

But Zaid is incorrect to assume that bonus and promotion are "entitlements". Increment are also not an entitlement. These are rewards!

Why don't you start the slavery system again? Then your costs would be low and no worry about productivity and morale.

That's why I chose to replace my m&ds with Pinoys. To me, it still keeps the workplace multiracial with all the four main races of singapore. Pinoys are roman catholic Malays with spanish culture.

some have got few grandparents who died many times over (same ones at that) over or a granny who gave birth at 62 :eek:
