SINGAPORE - Police have arrested six people, aged between 46 and 76, in an illegal gambling den bust.
They were nabbed during a five-hour operation at a two-storey property in Balestier which ended at 3am on Friday. They are suspected of involvement in operating a gambling den and gaming.
Police said officers from Tanglin Police Division and the Special Operations Command seized 19 modified computers and more than $1,800 in cash. Investigations are ongoing.
Managing a place used as a common gaming house is an offence under the Common Gaming Houses Act, carrying a fine of between $5,000 and $50,000, and a jail term of up to three years. The same punishments apply to anyone convicted of allowing their premises to be used for unauthorised gambling.
