Six arrested for suspected loanshark activities

SINGAPORE: Four men and two women, aged between 20 and 41 years, were arrested for their suspected involvement in loanshark activities.
They were arrested in an operation conducted by Bedok Police Division over the last two days.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in the vicinity of Lengkong Tiga on Thursday.
Later that day, at about 10pm, a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested in the vicinity of Jurong West. Police also seized two black caps and three mobile phones from the two suspects.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the three suspects are believed to be responsible for several loanshark harassments islandwide.
Police also arrested a 41-year-old man along Lorong 22, Geylang for assisting loanshark syndicates on Thursday night.
Loanshark-related paraphernalia such as three ATM cards and a mobile phone were also seized from the suspect.
On Friday morning, officers from Tampines Neighbourhood Centre Crime Strike Force arrested a man and a woman, both aged 20, in the vicinity of Lorong 1, Toa Payoh, after a series of ground enquiries and follow-up investigations.
Two mobile phones were seized from the suspects.
Preliminary investigations indicated that both suspects are believed to be responsible for several cases of loanshark harassment in the Tampines housing estate and islandwide.
