Fugitive surrenders after 21 years on the run

A fugitive of 21 years has surrendered himself to the police because he wants to marry his fiancee.
Wang Sheng Quan, 48, had together with his accomplices Wang An Chang (welder) and Shen Tian Cheng (hawker), killed Mr Wang Xia Xiang, 74, the owner of a coffeeshop, in 1989.
At the time, the three had also made off with $4,100 in cash and a watch.
Wang's two accomplices were arrested after the crime and are now free men after having served their sentences.
For the past 21 years, Wang remained on the run, hiding all over the island as a fugitive.
Afraid that the police will pick up his trail, he stuck to doing odd jobs to survive, and lived in numerous rented flats over the years.
His fugitive life appears to be over as he has surrendered himself at the Police Cantonment Complex on 6 October in 2010.
Wang was said to have been staying with his fiancee for more than a decade and the two have children.
Sources say that Wang had given himself up in order to marry his fiancee and lead a proper life.
