His wife gave him a coin box for his taxi but Ho Wui Khew, 60, misplaced it. This was the second time he had lost items and, to avoid a scolding from his spouse, he cooked up a story about a robbery.

He even filed a police report and on Thursday Ho pleaded guilty to providing false information to the authorities and was fined $4,000.

Court documents state that he was then a taxi driver with Prime taxi service. At about 10pm on June 21, 2011, he called the police hotline to report a robbery.

He claimed that a couple, who flagged down his taxi, had pointed a penknife at him along Portsdown Road and robbed him of $317 in cash and also taken a SIM card and a Bluetooth earpiece. They had fled into the bushes after getting him to stop his vehicle.

No lah, coin box where got contains $317 of coins? Even if it is suppose to carry notes, won't be that amount.

Must be taxi uncle use the money to spend in Geylang and lie to his wife he lost it.
