Singapore tops world education list along with Asia’s Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea, as Europe sees ‘worrying’ decline​

  • Singapore took top ranking in the latest OECD assessment, with its students scoring highest in all 3 of the survey’s areas: mathematics, reading and science
  • Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea also scored near the top, while levels in Europe slipped at a record pace, in part to Covid-19 shutdowns

Our leaders are going all out to overpopulate our tiny island, leading to all manner of social problems and spiraling inflation. I guess they believe that welcoming foreigners with fake educational qualifications and criminals such as money launderers is the way to achieve economic growth.

AMID the rise in mental health issues among young people around the world, presidential candidates Ng Kok Song and Tharman Shanmugaratnam urged parents to let children enjoy their childhood and to be themselves.

Tharman, who began dismantling the streaming system when he was the education minister from 2003 to 2008, said that the government is making changes to “destress” the education system.

He added that the whole system has to help give young people space, and urged parents not to put too much emphasis on examination preparation when their children are young.

“You may not be No 1 or even No 5 in school, but life is a long game, you can keep learning and keep improving. So when we are young, we’ve got to broaden ourselves, have a range of enjoyable experiences, make friends, and don’t let stress build up in our system,” he said.

This tiny island is not meant to house 6 million residents. We are already living cheek to jowl like farm animals, who tend to go crazy when they are denied sufficient space. An ideal population size for S'pore is no more than 3.5 million. Property and COE prices will come down after our population decreases to a livable level.
