Late deliveries, wrong deliveries, non-deliveries. The blogosphere is replete with complaints and feedback. Nothing has improved. Analysts drool over its potential re-rating due to property valuation. But they have forgotten their core business and role. Speak to their frontline staff who still have to work Saturdays when the rest of the organization has a five-day week. Their morale is low. Have a look SingPost's board composition and one can understand why a lot of shit is happening. Outsourcing led to a huge drop in delivery standards. Services like transport and postal, once profit is the key KPI, will deteriorate. But what do our leaders care? They will always get their deliveries on time.

many customers have suffered under Singpost.
not much u can do .
those staffs are not earning much.
sometimes i wonder what hell they need a 30 something German CEO ?

Do they still have jhew hoo kias on their payroll still helping themselves to credit cards in transit?

They may lose registered letters, parcels but they never have any problems deliverying bills

The given rationale behind privatizing (at least, in name) public services such as utilities, postal services and public transport was to improve the quality of the services provided.

Guess that didn't turn out to be true, eh?

The problem with SingPost is that there is no competition.

Even the the telcos and the public transport companies have semi-pseudo competitors to keep them on their toes.

There is no alternative to SingPost. And SingPost workers are poorly paid serfs who don't give a fuck (and you can't blame them).

Go to any SingPost post office. It's nothing more than a glorified aircon mamak store that happens to also help you send snail mail.

You've summed it up nicely!

I fully concur. Just in the month of August, I had received my respective neighbor's mail at each of my 2 residential addresses.

Tried Borderlinx recently, was fast & accurate and I was surprised to receive my parcel from US within 1week+ of ordering,,, Beat the shit out of VPost... Will never use local post or their services again...

Borderlinx usually gets the thing delivered to Spore in 4 days. They use DHL & I haven't faced any screw ups. You can also track all shipments on DHL's website

Singpost must be among most shitty of all the postal administrations worldwide. With compact and high density housing, it is much cheaper to operate postal service compared to many countries with huge land mass and sparse populations like Australia or Sweden. Postal Administrations charge each other for postal deliveries so countries like Singapore and Hong Kong have no problems making profits. Using this to their advantage, Hong Kong offers its services to bulk mailers from DHL and even from businesses in Shenzhen with their low postal rates. Even UK Royal mail wised up and got into the same act. Which is why you see many ebay resellers their offering their wares offering cheap postal rates. Singpost got lost and took their easy way out by bullying into traditional pawnshop business (they run by Kheks so no sympathy here). The Government did the usual wayang by allowing competitors. But they do not have access to HDB mail boxes which Singpost exploited by stuffing all sorts of flyers. To make deliveries the competitors are hobbled by having to deliver all floors and are sometimes barred from entering condominiums.

If that is not enough, Singpost began to outsource delivery jobs. Lots of retirees fell into this trap by tendering for it. They didn't realized that Singapore is essentially a no free parking zone so kenna summons left right centre. One even ask me to meet him at the carpark to collect my Vpost parcel. Overworked postal staff or simply lazy ones don't even bother to knock our doors twice to deliver registered mail. You can be in your home and still find a notification of non delivered mail. When called into to complain, the tai-chi begins and finally a tired voice from the supervisor replied he will look into it. But not before telling you maybe because your toy poodle frightened the postman away. Perhaps the next time I also should get halal certificate or some arabic words for my door.

Singpost should be privatised en-bloc to pure commercial enterprises like DHL or UPS. Parcel and express deliveries are where the profits are and not be allowed to keep its crony backwater status, filled up with incompetents from top to bottom. Sometimes it is easy just to bull-doze it and rebuilt from scratch.

I heard about this story from someone who death with them over a series of thefts from mails from a certain industry. They contacted the Head of Security who was an ex-army officer. He immediately confirmed without even checking that it was not possible. Common sense would required some checks and some preliminary investigation on his part as it involved a number of cases. Fed-up they went to the Police and they found a Malaysian during the night shift pilfering mail contents and taking it back to JB.

And he was the Head of Security. Not the postman, the delivery driver or the counter staff.

Ex-Army. Enough said. When social services like postal delivery starts to break down (as Tracy says, The Crumbling of Singapore) - and this had been happening for a long time in SingPost, much like SMRT - it's a leading indicator that there is a lot of infested deadwood in the government. They and their useless KPIs. The chap with his khaki uniform and red bicycle delivered our mail without fail, rain or shine.

The Big Clean Up should start from

Singpost . !!!

Remove All Those Fat Cats !!!

Cut Those CollectorFees !!!
