All 40km of NEL inspected; no abnormalities detected
SINGAPORE: SBS Transit said all 40 kilometres of the North East Line (NEL) track have been inspected.
No abnormalities have been detected.
SBS Transit said it completed the inspection checks of the remaining 17 kilometres of the track after train service hours early on Saturday.
It was only able to inspect 23 kilometres of the 40-km track after a four-hour check, which ended at 4.40am Friday. This was because the checks were thorough and intensive.
SBS Transit said it'll continue to monitor the system closely, following Thursday's service disruption between HarbourFront and Dhoby Ghaut stations.
Train services were hit for some 10 hours after a maintenance check uncovered two broken stainless steel cables located near the Outram Park station.
