SINGAPORE: Five men have been arrested over three occasions for attempting to enter or leave Singapore illegally, said police on Wednesday (Jan 27).
At about 2am on Jan 20, the police coast guard arrested three men aged between 25 and 30 for trying to swim to Singapore. They were detected as floating objects at the sea off Senoko and the police coast guard was deployed to pick them up.
On the second occasion on Jan 22 at about 3.30am, police coast guard also detected a swimmer at the sea off Fuji Jetty. The 45-year-old man was arrested for attempting to enter Singapore unlawfully.
Later on Jan 23 at about 3.15am, a 31-year-old man was arrested at Sungai Mandai for attempting to swim from Singapore to Johor in Malaysia.
