1) Australian Government is mediocre compared to Singapore's
Fact: Not true. Anyone who stayed in Australia before wull realise that the Austrlian Government is proactive, nor reactive. In a nutshell, Australia has a governance system much longer than Singapore's and many of its policies are people centric rather than money centric. Singapore government's rise was due to labour and social exploitation in the past. One area where Australia shines is its immigration program which Singapore is inept in dealing with
2) Australians pay more tax than Singapore so lower income
Fact: Australian do not pay more tax than singaporeans for incomes below a threshold for t elower and middle income groups. Income tax rises as income rises which mainly affects very high income earners and Australia follows a direct taxation model as opposed to Singapore's indirect model due to large population and size . Direct taxation model allows for more effective tax management system and aims to curb tax evaders and allows for a more black and white record on paper. Singapore's indirect system allows for tax evaders. It is a fact that Australia's disposable incomes are much higher than singapore and it takes into account income gap and tries to close the gap as much as possible to prevent income gaps resulting in social disparencies
3) Australia's crime rate is higher and police are inefficient
Fact: Singapore's crime rate is higher than australia's for the same population size when one does the maths.
Another fact is that Singapore law enforcemnt system does learn lots from Australia or other countries. Australia's police efficiency is like any other first world country. Everyday corruption in Australia is non existent unlike in third world countries and there are many independent NGOs and commissions which fight for people's rights. Australians have the right to an attorney even they could not afford it
4) australians are lazy because they work short hours
Due to the climate conditions and sheer size of the place, Australians cannot work more than 6 hours. The climate wears one down and this is taken into account in the workforce Australia has shorter daylight time than singapore . Given these curcumstances, Australia's productivity is higher than Singapore's and there are strict requirements for certifications in australia for trade and industry or for professional PMET jobs. Australia has a developed workforce and does not follow a third world model like Singapore's
