Singaporeans are well known to be ‘complaint kings’ and ‘champion grumblers’, but none will beat this complaint so far.
A Singaporean lodged a complaint to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking for assistance not for any emergencies, but to investigate an overseas fast-food joint for giving him fried chickens smaller in size than what was given to the locals. He added that he felt ‘discriminated’ and asked the ministry to seek ‘redress’ for him.
The example was quoted by Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Tan in Parliament on Wednesday to highlight some of the frivolous complaints filed by Singaporeans overseas.
Mr Tan also appeal to Singaporeans for their ‘understanding’ that though the Ministry will look into every single request for help, they have to prioritize on a case by case basis due to limited resources.
