Man arrested for disorderly behaviour at Jalan Besar Stadium
Posted: 28 March 2012 2137 hrs

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a man for disorderly behaviour at Singapore's Jalan Besar Stadium.

This was after the Malaysia FA Cup quarter-final football match between Singapore and Terengganu played on March 27.

The man had gone to the stadium to watch the game and he was seen shouting loudly and gesturing profanities at Malaysian fans when the game ended.

He ignored the warnings of security officers and continued to behave rowdily which led to his arrest.

The man will be charged in Court on March 29 with disorderly behaviour.

If convicted, he faces a fine not exceeding S$1,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one month.

They arrest him for exhibiting nationalism and patriotism?

You make the ridiculous assumption that those two qualities are any good. Great job arresting another idiot. Plenty of idiots on this island.

This stupid sinkie is going to bring us all trouble by creating hatred between the 2 country. I urge the authority to give this sinkie the maximum punishment for jeopardising our safety and security. It's just a fucking football match not a war

They arrest him for exhibiting nationalism and patriotism?

Because he is not a FT!!!If he is a FT, maybe another story!

Unbelievable isn't..??? Sinkie chap got arrested for showing his nationalistic fervour... I don't regard it as hooliganism.. He was just doin his part as a football fan.. Which football fan in the world will not curse or shout vulgarities towards an Opposition team?

Way back in 1975, Sg played a Brazilian club team at the Kallang Stadium. My friends and me were in secondary school and we brought our National Flag and waved it in the stands. Shortly after, the police came and told us we could not display the flag in public and took away our flag. Since then, I have never felt the need to be patriotic. It is for nothing.

Cheers!

ya ...thats a real lifetime turnoff.

One Malay chap that I knew smuggled a flare into the Kallang stadium during the 1993 SEA Games semis between the Lions and Myanmar..

When Spore was leading 2 nil, he activated the flare and ran around the whole stadium.. Few police officers closed one eye due to the occasion.. The crowd cheered him on and the TV which brodacasted the live game even focussed their camera on him.. But his joy was shortlived.. A senior SOC officer then pulled him to one side and arrested him..

He was brought into a holding bay inside the stadium and was put there till end of the game.. An officer guarding the holding area told him that he can be released after the match if Spore went into the Final.. Spore lost that night and he had to spent the rest of the night in a police station cell... But the then good hearted cops released him the next day only with a verbal warning..

Good thing for him he wasn't charged with possesion of an incendiary device. Glad too that they let him off. He's not up to no good, just happens to be in high-spirit for the occassion. Not all cops are bad I suppose, some are humans too.

Cheers!

Then again, in the bad old days under LKY's direct rule, there were many other weird rules and regulations. He'd also banned long-haired male travellers from entering Singapore.

I think he could be a repressed, UK-educated closet homo with issues regarding sexual identity.

Its good that they charge this fan cos he brought shame to Singapore

Singapore cops are real joy killers...

The fucking authorities should just ban football. Which country in the world does not allow fans to wave flags and scream abuse at the opposing team and match officials? People who kpkb about how Sinkies are a disgrace for shouting abuse at football matches should just go and watch golf. Football is a sport for the masses and if football fans must act prim and proper and high class and all, the fucking authorities should just withdraw all support for football and use the money to invest in atas sports like golf and shit sports like cricket. CONFIRM nobody will yell or swear during a swing/throw.

The Terengganu player incited the fans with his stupid antics but he got away scot free for his actions. What kind of bullshit is this? If you are a foreigner and a racial minority, you can make all sorts of racist claims and people will fall over themselves trying to protect you and lynching the culprits. If you are a local and belong to the racial majority, you are expected to suck up whatever stick and racist nonsense directed at you from foreigners and/or minorities. We are taking political-correctness so far until discrimination against minorities has now turned into reverse discrimination against the majority. What a disgusting world! FUCK THESE MORALISTIC HYPOCRITES!

A few years later, the regime banned full-face helmets for motorcyclists!!!! And visors too!!! It will take a lot for this government to allow me to accept them. They are pro-business, anti-human.

Cheers!

were you at the stadium that night? i was...clearly saw him running around with the flares. police gave chase, he ran into the exits and reappeared at another exit/entrance and began running again from the chasing police pack (much to the delight of the fans) before being finally caught....what drama on a dramatic night!

No I wasn't.. My dad didn't allow me to attend the game and only my elder bro was allowed to go.. So I had to depend on the live telecast...That Malay chap was a friend of my elder bro.. Both of them used to play in the same neighbourhood football team.. Around 20 of them went to attend the game.. My bro was one of the few Chinese boys in that group..This was what my bro told me when he reached home.. The chap had already planned to smuggle in the flare before the game.. Security check before the match was not tight at all and since they were just teens, the police didn't really do a thorough check on them when they showed their student tickets... After the game though, my bro and the rest of the group had to leave the arrested chap behind since the police decided to brought him back to the station.. Lucky for him, they released him the next day and only gave him a verbal warning for it.. Yes I agree with you.. It was a dramatic football game that nite.. But disappointed by the result..

that disappointing result made it all the more memorable..the only defeat that was entrenched forever...Jack was seated behind the goal. last min before penaltys, Sg given direct freekick just outside the box. Fandi took the ball, KISSED it and then curled it just inches from goal..almost a dramatic winner...razali saad was shit!
