Nothing to do with long or short sticks. Where Singapore is concerned, if Malaysia takes a stick, Singapore will wipe out the entire area including the shops, roads, and probably the whole town. And it has the means to do it. It will certainly will not be able to invade much of the country let alone the whole country and hold it for long but the consequence to Malaysia on the onslaught might not be worth to even contemplate any form of minor action in the first place. Its not about weapons. Its about doctrine and strategy and the means to carry it out. Border skirmishes like what you see with China, Indian, Korea, Pakistan are not in the plan for Singapore or Malaysia. It has to be quick, massive and absolutely devastating. And even fatalistic for Singapore.
